Hi,
As per the title, how tough is it on tyres?
We have a Trackday booked on the Friday and a 30min qualifying and 40min race on Saturday. I have 2 sets of part worn tyres (maybe 1/2 worn one set and 3/4s worn the other set) to use.

It is heavy on the front left tyre in particular but I suppose it depends on the weight and layout of the car.

Part worn tyres for a race?

I think you mean front left, the front right doesn’t see much load.

Car is an E36 BMW weighing about 1200kg.

We ran one set all last season and the opening race this season, if they aren’t worn out we don’t replace them (we don’t have the budget to throw a new set on every race unfortunately).

It is quite abrasive, not as much as Pembrey if you have raced there, although the track surface is very similar. Not as bad as it used to be due to some resurfacing couple of years ago.

Difficult to put any solid figures on it but I reckon maybe 10% more wear than say Donington over a stint. Dunlop had to bring special tyres to Thruxton for BTCC due it being high wear.

Keep it stiff

It is a killer of near side tyres, front and back.
