Who is taking part this year?

ROR said:
Held over the Remembrance weekend, Race of Remembrance was established by Mission Motorsport alongside the wider racing community and the wounded servicemen and women who use the sport that we love as a crutch to aid in their recovery.

Beginning on the Saturday, the 12 hour endurance race runs into the night, pausing for a Remembrance Service on Sunday Morning. The race is open to a wide range of racing cars based on road car designs, the main regulations stipulating a 2-litre engine capacity limit and the use of

street-legal tyres. Competitors typically span a range from Caterhams to Citroen C1s with Lotus Elises and Mazda MX-5s also proving very popular

A special invitation class also enables cars you’d not normally expect to see racing to take part, such as a four-wheel drive, diesel-powered Honda CR-V sports utility vehicle .Both Mazda and Honda have supported the race, as well as JLR with the provision of the charity’s now famous F-type ‘Poppy Car.

We (TrackScotland) had entries 2017/2018/2019 and have again entered two teams for 2021 - Mini Cooper R50s (typically in same class as Mk1 MX5, 116i etc)

Its a great event to round out our motorsport year, and its also for a very worthwhile cause!

I'd be interested to hear who else is competing, and in what?

I competed in the 2018/2019 editions in the relay class - loved it but it might be that we are effectively barred now on the Power to Weight measure unless we put a sack of spuds in the footwell.

I already have a 15kg of lead as ballast to get me over the minimum weight......for my 'normal' series

In a Caterham? Could always try for the invitational given you have previous with RoR?

I think I preferred the old class system, but I guess we have to go with what we have. They always had the caveat in the regs to re-classify cars that were clearly 'too fast' for their class. We had mild panic when seeing Caterham 300's in the 1600 class A biggrin

2021 Classes (Power/Weight is calculated excluding driver weight and flywheel power)

DESCRIPTION DETAILS
Class A Up to 85 bhp/tonne
Class B From 86 to 140 bhp/tonne
Class C From 141 to 180 bhp/tonne
Class D From 181 to 250 bhp/tonne
Class E Invitation Class (by invitation of the Race Committee only)
Class R Relay Class (a maximum of 250 bhp/tonne)

Our minis will be in Class B. We also sold the 2019 Class A winning car which will be back with its new owners - 3 Minis in Class B so far that I know of
