Rob, best lap 1:40.106! (It was cold though) Just the 9 seconds to find, then.
As you said on your previous post, it may well be the car: your engine, setup etc. Also don't forget the weather plays a big part. The best I managed in the end was a 1:31.615, but the club didn't recognise it as a lap record confused I was running in the 31s and 32s all weekend, but the lap record still shows on the website as a 1:34 or something from back in 1997. My main target that weekend was to break that lap record, so it was a bit dissapointing not to see my efforts recorded. Needless to say I moved on to race something else shortly afterwards!!!

My brother won the Peugeot THP Spider Championship at the weekend in Dijon! He now gets to go training with the Peugeot 908 drivers and will get a full test in the beautiful Peugeot 908 at Le Castellet in February!!!! I know the thread is UK motorsport, but we are the only Brits abroad(and the opening post said you could blow your own trumpet!)

Anyone racing Caterhams and the like should seriously consider the THP Spider or even the 207 LW. Racing abroad, good prize money and the ultimate prize of the 908 test.

There is something deeply satisfying about a Brit beating the French, in a Peugeot, in France. Well done that man. thumbup

Won the Karting Northeast Sprint championship for my class, so I'm pretty damn pleased with that, plus the fact that my engine blew up in the last meeting of the seaeson biggrin. You should of the seen the face of my nearest competitor when he realised we were putting another engine on, absolutly priceless.

And the fact I have all my meetings paid for next year biggrin.

And well done to everyone else on their successes this year.

The team of Paddock marshals who made the September Sunday 5 Clubs Wiscombe Hillclimb win the best event in the Wiscombe championship. It was wet, muddy, raining, cold & genraly those guys are in need of recognition. Now they did well!!
I'll second that, I was racing Saturday and marshalled on Sunday. The organisers did a fantastic job at keeping that event running smoothly, especially with the weather and amount of offs on Saturday.

Managed a pot at every event this year and won our club speed championship and second place in the CSMG autosolo championship. The car needs some TLC before next season though......

A curtailed season for financial reasons but one of my best from a results POV

RMU Classic Spa April:

FISC 1: 1st
FISC 2: 1st
FISC 3: DNF - coolant hose burst whilst leading
BSSC 1Hr: no idea but had a hoot with about 20 French Lotus 7s

Spa 6Hrs:

Qual: 58th and fastest 1950 MGB
Race: Finished 22nd of 93 starters

L'Age D'Or Historique Trophee de Bourgogne Dijon Prenois:

FISC 1: 1st
FISC 2: 2nd
FISC 3: 2nd
All three with the French Lotus 7s from Spa. Could not have been closer. Brill.

Roll on the 2009 ADAC Classic Trophy

Finished 8th in XR2 Championship after missing 3 rounds.

Finished a very close 2nd in Class at Silverstone in Ford Saloons in class E.

didn't do as well as I would have liked but competition this season was intense in XR2's and lack of funds held me back a bit!!!

Car was reliable as ever and finished all races entered!

Well done - but does it not get a tad boring after a while going that slow?

No its the wheel to wheel bit that makes up for the lack of straight line speed. It's not as easy as it looks ,as those who have done our 24hr race will tell you.We had Gareth Howell in the car in 2007 and he said it was the most fun he'd had that year, praise enough from a touring car driver.

My first season racing and I finished 2nd in my Class ( Class B TVR championship), as well as that I ran in the Britcar in Topcats Marcos 29 and as a team we led the race for 11 hours. Although running with 3 other experienced drivers, I took the car out in third for my first stint and brought it back in Third and in the morning went out in first and brought it back in first after 2hrs and 20 mins.

Im pleased as punch and have bought a TVR Tuscan Challenge car for class A in the TVR Championship next year.

...who said that this wasnt an addictive and expensive sport? biggrin

I've seen those 2cv's race and it looks a shed load of fun. Put it this way, have you ever raced you mates at the local 2stroke kart circuit? Or even scalelectrix? Its not the speed that matters its the competitiveness, and the slower the cars are the more time will be gained by application of skill and subtlety.

24hr races are great fun, whatever you're in. It really highlights the team effort side of things. I may try and get a drive at Snett for the 2CV race in 2009. Looks like a good craic with people who don't take themselves too seriously.....
