I can't seem to get the links to work properly. Any info on costs?
IIRC Membership is £35, Series Registration is £95 and races last year varied in cost from £235 at Anglesy to £285 at Oulton or Brands. And thats for a 30 min practice and a 40 min race.

The entry for the Spa 1 hour race is looking like being approx £450.

Shame it's a 1 hour race - that'll restrict the entry to those with 55l tanks frown

Normally in the 1 hour spa format you can refuel at the pumps - lots of cars do it -

i think this fuel issue is brilliant, suddenly its like f1 used to be in the turbo days when people wound the boost up but then had to throttle back later on in hte race to conserve fuel. the sight of 30 caterfields blatting round for 35 minutes then have to do two laps on an economy run would be priceless....
yes
and how F1 should be now

Looking forward to it, but a 1 hour race must drain the average mortal. 20 min races in the clio cup was long enough for most races!

We all do hour stints at the Birkett, and yes it's stressfull but it's a completely different sort of racing to a 20 min sprint

Also you get a 20 second rest every lap up the kemel straight smile

Sounds like a good series - 3 of us who are SEMSEC Caterham regulars had a good chat with Hugo at the Autosport show. Interestingly, as we started out on UK Endurance races 2 of our cars have Arch modified "double tanks" which are effectively one tank on top of another. I suspect a lot of 7's will be OK for 40mins, but this is another option and I don't remember it being hugely expensive.

I ran a 1,100 kg Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera throughout last year in the CSCC Future Classics with the same 40 minute format with pit stop, and used 32 – 35 litres of fuel per race , dependent on circuit.

How did you find the Future Classics racing? I was thinking about it as a possible option for my old 308GT4. Are the cars generally fully stripped racers or are some "dual purpose" and road legal?

Hi David, I’ve raced Porsches for years, in lots of different series, and really enjoy FC’s – it's not a championship, which I think makes the driving standard higher (certainly less aggressive than some series), and a really interesting mix of cars – most fairly ‘production’, like mine, which has tax and MOT, but still some fairly quick stuff – V8 TR7’s particular. Timings on the TSL site so you can see how the cars go at each circuit, or PM me for the full facts!

excellent to see this getting coverage on here.
I am a complete novice (passed my race license on Saturday) and I'm entering the series in an R400 - it'll be the slow blue one!!
Looking forward to meeting some of you guys. anybody planning to do the test day in March at Snetterton?

Richard.

What would it cost to prepare a Locoblade to turn from a trackday/road car into a racer?

Give me a shout and let me know the spec of your car - I race an ST Locoblade and have a mate who does too, we might be able to help smile

Failing that give Steve at Aries a ring, 01159 323489

Forgot to add, where are you in the world? If you are near North Yorkshire you're welcome to come and have a look at mine (kettle will be on as its a cold garage, the car is currently mid-winter rebuild).

Thanks for that. I live in London, so I will probably contact Steve. My car is the ST exhibition car with all carbon bodywork which was on the ST website for some while. I suspect spec wise its more show than substance really.

Probably best to try Steve; however, my mate Brian (bjw970s on here) has an injected Locoblade racer and is based in High Wycombe which isn't too far away - he may be amenable to you casting an eye over it.

You're welcome to drop me an email or give me a ring to have a chat though if you like! Also, if you haven't already, join www.locostbuilders.co.uk as it is a very useful resource and there are quite a few bods involved with racing on there wink
