Hi Guys, i fancy a crack at a few rounds of this, i was wondering about the handicapping on the tyres? Which is the best way to go with this? Never competed on 4 wheels before so i am a bit green here. Thanks.

I suspect that you're going to need all the grip you can get to exploit that power, it would be a shame to suffer a high power-to-weight handicap and then not be able to use the power. Based on that I'd be looking at 1B or semi slicks. I hope you do go for it, it would be great to see the beast being driven in anger!

1B is the Toyo 888 type tyres? What about full slicks in that case, i have a few contacts in the competition tyre trade and could get some soft compound stuff. I do intend to have a go at this, as using all that power on the road means i could be rattling my cup!

Hi Paul

Come and have a go in the TVR Tuscan challenge there are a couple of cerbs in the series already,you will have to fit a cage if you go to slicks as that is a requirement even for track day's?

Steve Cox is the co-ordinator, i can let you have his email address.

as for tyres, 1Bs or slicks, road tyres would be unfulfilling at best (wheelspin everywhere..) or likely to spit you off at each corner at worst

Well lets hope not... The more ls powered cars that leak into the challenge the quicker it will become a sillouette series. All imo of course;)

Your best bet is to join the relevant Yahoo group at;

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/TVR_Speed_Cham...

The draft 2009 regulations have just been published, as have the regs for the B19 "Shakedown" Sprint at Honington Airfield on the 1st March.

Feel free to drop me an email if you have any questions...

Andy i just feel its a shame to come away from the AJP. Once we have 3 or 4 out there everyone will need to follow suit to be competative and i think thats a shame.

I think the LS engine is brilliant and as Paul has shown can produce very good power.

I don't disagree with the logic Mike. But exactly the same logic applies to 4.7 litre AJPs, wide wheels and so on.

Yes your correct and i suppose its how the championship is evolving. I still think a complete engine change is a little more extreme though.

The question is...

Would the Dunlop Tuscan Challenge be as good with a grid full od LS engined tuscans?
