As above really. There is the potential of being offered a drive for a team in the Sports 2000 Pinto class. I was looking into the Kumho however this opportunity has now come up but I don't really know much nor can I seem to find out much info on this.

Can anyone provide any insight?

Thanks

good website here: www.sports2000-srcc.com

from all i have heard and seen as a spectator it is a well establish and well managed series with healthy grids and proper race cars. they are quite fast for what they are and just look do nice. a bit like the old group 6 cars... i would imagine its far more fun that kumhos... v.jealous!

Proper racing cars and good grids. I know what I would do if I could afford it & it wouldn't have a roof.

I would just make sure you have a decent damage budget or some insurance as having shared a garage with a sports 2000 when it crashed it looked very expensive to repair, plus in some of the races I have seen there was more contact that I would be happy with - although I think the club have made a big effort in recent years to try and clamp down on dodgy driving standards.

I looked into Sports 2000 quite seriously when I changed from Caterhams last year. The people that I spoke to were incredibly friendly and helpful, they have spotters observing driving standards, and the cars seem good to drive (there's some in-car on You Tube). In the end I decided to race a single seater because it was cheaper and that's where my heart lies, but Sports 2000 does seem like a good championship with good racing. yes

I’ve been racing in Sports 2 for the past couple of seasons, so I hope I can answer any questions you have.
As for body contact, I would say that I have seen very little compared to most other championships. There is a driving standards code of conduct and I know of at least one disqualification for aggressive driving. We encourage close competitive and exciting racing, but few of us can afford hefty repair bills after each race, so all incidents are looked into and action taken against anyone driving inappropriately.
The championship has been going for over 30 years and has never been more healthy than now, with three championships all attracting bigger grids each year, occasionally oversubscribed.
As I said I am happy to answer any questions you have and if I can’t answer then I know plenty of others who will.

Fantastic to watch! One of my favourite racing series from a watcher's point of view. saw a brilliant race at brands, won on the last few corners of the last lap
