Hah......more memories smile

I quite fancy going back to doing some sprinting again when I change the car over the winter and get a 135i.
Probably won't be that competitive in the top production class but I had the same problem years ago with the Sunbeam-Lotus as it was over 2 litres.

But I'd rather compete in sprints again than just do track days.

assuming I get my brake callipers on the car, should be at Hethel on Sunday. Anyone know what the "SR15 will apply" noise restriction means as stated in the final regs?

I assume you mean "as stated in the final instructions". SR15 would be a reference to paragraph 15 in the supplementary regulations for the event, which you'll have received with the application form.

thanks, guess its just a typo then as para 15 is "timing and competition numbers" while 16 is noise.

Wondering what class my 2.5l Murtaya will be put in - turbo and 4WD. Can't wait to get back to some sprints once some odds and sods are sorted - hoping it will be the weapon of choice to make up for my lack of ability!
To all those who are new to sprinting, the old doddery b*gger who turns up in a clapped out mark I ancient-mobile with knackered suspension from the 70's WILL beat you by a long way. It seems that when they hand out bus passes they also hand out a big bag of talent.;)

Yes, I was feeling as sick as a dog yesterday morning though. So I sent an SMS to the two mobiles listed in the finals and went back to bed.

Now to decide what car to buy over the winter.

well, you made one of the reserves a happy bunny anyway! ( i did think given the low numbers this year that reserves were a thing of the past. Debden however always attracts a top quality entry)
get well soon.

I know exactly what you mean! I'm new to hillclimbing and spent the whole of this year trading tenths with people old enough to be my grandad!

One of my favorite sprinting characters of all time was an old gentleman called Walley Pratt (yes that was his real name) who sprinted a rather dignified old Rover Metro for several years. He was ninety if he was a day, rather frail, great bloke to talk to, and he didn't just drive round gently he gave that Metro a good pasting. I believe he's sadly passed away now, but I admired the hell out of him and if I ever get to that age I sincerely hope I've got enough marbles left to follow his example. bow

one of our championship guys Len Turner is 78 and a legend! a few years ago i was doing the sprint at Brand Hatch, when i noticed Len wasnt in numerical order in our class, i was car 50-something and he was car 75. When i enquired as to why, he said that someone had dobbed him into the organisers that it was his 75th birthday that day so they made him run as car 75! a succession of his children, grandchildren and close friends appeared in the paddock to cheer him on on his birthday. Its a sight that i will cherish for many years. Hes still bloody quick too. some of the stories he has from the old days of sprint/hillclimbing will make your hair curl, some serious partying after events eekcool
Im im half as quick at his age i'll be chuffed

Last year won the std production up to 2litre class(A0) and this year in the same class (B3) as eastlmark, need a bit more power than the tired 1.6 to keep up with them ideally, but it's holding it's own at the moment, 2nd in the class to mark with 2 less events.
Sorry to drag up an old thread, but if I'm reading the championship results correctly you've won B3 this year, so congrats. Although entering more events than anyone else seems to be an advantage as the same has happened in B1 and B4. Of course, having a GT3 is a sure-fire way to win B4 smile
