I'm off on Sunday, buddy. I haven't seen a BTCC race since they supported the Champ Cars at Brands but went to just about every Oulton Park round between 1989 and 1999. We'll be going early doors to dodge the queues, but should be sat at Knickerbrook. Fingers crossed the sun will be shining and we can get the roof off for a blast down the lanes on the way there.

After a full day in the sun at Silverston on Saturday as well, I'm burnt to buggery. Good day out and Collard's charge in the final BTCC race was awesome. Hope the Ginetta drivers are OK - nasty pair of accidents.

Oh and next time I'll check the timetable - was there at 7.30am to avoid the queues with no racing 'til 12.15pm...

How come the BTCC don't use the full international circuit layout?

Apparently a couple of reasons.I marshal at Outon and I have heard that its either no-one can spectate that far down and the fact that the cars carry too much speed into Shell and the crashes used to be horrendous. But Im open to any other theories as to why?

I would theorise the following -

- Easier to marshal
- Less requirement for TV cameras
- More laps so the spectators see more laps

Were you marshalling when Andy Meyrick had his crash at Shell Oils in the March 782? Ended up upside down in a tree - horrific.
