Hey Guys,

Im from down here in Aus and just wanted to ask you guys your thoughts on the cars such as the chiron juno and radical.

What are the differences between mainly the chiron and juno and what are the laptime differences?

Im not to interested in a radical because here in aus we have a few SR3's already and i know that either a chiron or juno would def be able to beat that and the west wr1000 as well.

We have a 1600cc 05 model Chiron down here and its one amazing car... droool.
I love the look of the newer chiron and think its one of the best looking sports cars around.

Has anyone had any experience in either driving or working on both the cars. Its hard being in aus to get any first hand experience on the latest stuff and how good it is etc.

Pretty much just looking for the quickest car i can get with a 2.0L. Both the ligier and Norma seem quick but getting info from both of them is difficult specially being in aus and the price range is a bit much. That is why it has pretty much come down the the chiron or juno.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Alex

In terms of raw speed i don't think there's a hell of a lot of difference between the Chiron and Juno when fitted with a 2lt. There's 3 2lt Chiron's racing in the open sportscar series and they seem to be top of the 2lt class at every meet but then again there aren't any Juno's racing in it.
The Juno i think last year won the VdeV series over here so there's undoubtably speed in those cars too.

If your going on looks then the new chiron vdev car would just pip the Juno although both are very good looking.
If i had to choose between the 2 then i'd go for a Chiron, they're results in the now finished National supersports spoke for themselves, but it is a very close call.

I'd be having a proper look at a west WX10 if they are an option over there....note that's the WX 10, not the WR1000.

As for being beaten by an SR3? what's inside the SR3? 1500cc? something more potent?

Hi Alex

I bought a Chiron 2 litre in 2006.

These cars are built to an amazing standard, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the whole Chiron team, They are always going the extra mile for you , If you want any info / photos etc let me know and I'll do my best to help.

I've no experience of the Chiron but the Juno is a great car. Speed is one factor, but the car is also very easy to set up and reacts to small changes.

I've just started racing mine in UK Speed (formerly VdeV UK) - we came 4th at Spa at the end of May. With the paddle shift, etc. it is a very easy car to drive.

It feels a world away from my 1500 SR3.

Hey guys thanks for all the info. It makes it a bit easier hearing info from the guys that are around all the cars.

The west is lingering around the back of the mind because it is very quick for the price thats for sure. The only problem we have found here with the west is trying to get parts for them and the communication isnt that great which sort of puts me off a bit specially if something goes wrong and cant get anything from them for one or two months. Also want something that can beat the west not equal it hahahaha.

I guess the Chiron is quite attractive to me as well as it is a lot like my current car, Mallock Mk31. Between the two chassis they are suprising quite similar and that is probably because the chassis works very well. So going with something i know is another pro but i dont wanna write off the juno just because of that.
If i had time and the spare cash id fly to england to have a drive of both and then decide haha but unfortunetly its not that easy bein from oz.

I know Ewan from Juno and Henry at Chiron both good guys,If you haven't ruled out the norma or ligier then there are dealers for both in th UK.If motorsport are uk dealers for Ligier, and Norma have a Uk dealer

Norma Racing UK

t: 07808 484844 (Tim Mullis)

t: 07768 862772 (Neil Walker)

e: info@norma-uk.com

If motorsport

email: sales@ifbitz.com
telephone: 0044 (0)1953 888 691
fax: 0044 (0)1953 888 716

Juno did have a kiwi dealer but not sure if they still have. The Juno is a very reliable car but perhaps not as quick as the Ligier and Norma's although they do seem to have made a step forward with the new car.The older Chirons were always a good car and quick, the latest one hasn't really been ran enough to find it's true pace as yet,but I'd imagine it will be.

Norma and Ligier are both very close now,if I was to say a car to buy I would go for the Bicknell PS7 shame it's a one off haha!

Hi Alex

I have owned a Juno since mid 2007. I have done 2 seasons of racing with the car here in New Zealand with no troubles at all. I hold the lap record for NZ Sportscars at all three tracks in the North Island. The agent for Australia and New Zealand (junoracing.co.nz) is based in Taupo, just over an hour south of my home in Hamilton. The car is easy to drive and responds to small changes in set up. Definitely quicker than a Radical. My car is for sale and if I sell I will definitely get another. I would strongly suggest buying a car with a space frame chassis - it is way cheaper and easier to repair if you have an accident compared to an aluminium tub.
Please email me on iain@icepak.co.nz if you want to know more
