Heyup!
My write up of the PH1 car from 2007 is here:
http://www.pistonheads.com/xforums/topic.asp?h=0&a...
There's some other threads in the same place with pics etc.
Have to say it was one of the most bonkers things I've ever done but great fun. Me and Iain are planning to have another go at it in the next couple of years. Though we'll be doing all the prep work ourselves.... This year we're having a go at 24 hour kart racing.

You git! reading that has brought back all of the good memories from that race. Too late to do anything about this years race but if next years is the 20th anniversary then I think it might be time for the PH2 team to give it another go...My write up of the PH1 car from 2007 is here:

Drives usually go for about £1000 /£1300 depending on the overall deal. How many drivers etc.Pretty cheap for 6 to 8 hrs racing.
Do they pay you! No,too many cars at close quarter to have much time to think .Its much more like a 24hr sprint race .If you like racing you can't help but love it ,they are great fun to drive and much more challenging than you would think.Phil Bennet said"it's much harder than it looks" and Gareth Howells who drove my car a couple of years ago said"thats the best fun i've had all year".Good praise from touring car drivers i would say.

Gotcha. I always fancied a DS with CX turbo engine - will never happen though Enjoy. What lap times do they do with a fast driver?I was out testing with a couple of them on tuesday at snett. Not that I was going that quick in the greasy conditions but I was thinking I'd need something to keep me occupied on the straight if I was racing 24 hours in one..... looked erm, a handful through the corners!! Have fun guys.

Was that you in the Caterham Paul? That looked like fun in the wet!
I was in the orange 2CV. It certainly was a handful - more so than it should have been. I'll be in a different car for the 24hours
yeah, I love the wet and was trying different setups. I was...erm committed at turn 1..... a lot. I managed to find the gravel about 5 times there fortunately missed the armco and got out each time. Still the car got gravel rash. Very unpleasant. Had some interesting angles going through corum as well!I was in the orange 2CV. It certainly was a handful - more so than it should have been. Have to say I find snett a bit boring, even in the r300....reckon you boys all medals for doing 24 hours round there in the 2cv!!!! Still, no doubt more interesting when there is a shed load of other 2cv's to race with! Our final round is there in late October......
If it was closer I'd come along and watch for a bit, but its 3 hours away. May well be there testing again on the 7th aug.
Good luck..!
4 abreast, sideways in the wet on tyres the size of 2p pieces is one of my abiding memories of last year's race.
Unfortunately, I was the other driver of the wayward orange car on Tuesday, like Ted I won't be driving it in the race, but unlike Ted I've decided to sit this year out. Next year perhaps.....

If anybody's looking for a car for next year, I think ours could be up for sale - Boss Hogg's car, 4th overall in 2006, lost 3rd place on the last corner. Wish we'd known about greasing the kingpins! Not raced since
Sunroof, could you drop me a line with your email address so we can discuss further. andy.hancock@bluefingroup.co.uk
thanks
Andy
It was good to see you there again ted,and smiling ,the car was obviously much better than last years.
Danmalk, thanks for guiding us into the fog and then showing us where to park for 5 hours.
