You are right, that is also a nice piece of electronics. However, I still have a strong attraction for the "old fashioned" needle and dial rev counters smile perhaps due to my age 62+ eek
+1 analogue guages are easier to read and understand for most people.
Research has shown the vast majority of people can process and understand analogue read outs far quicker than digital.

Plus I'm an ol' duffer aswell wink

But analogue rev counter is what you get with the Stack dash.

I must say, i personaly tend to like them better when there is no sterio head unit on the dash. I wonder if its posible to get a small display and a couple of descrete buttons somewhere - or even integrate the display into one of the digital dashes that i see people using.
That's what I think and ended up with this:

Touch screen, amp hideasaway and has inputs for camera, ipod, USB, satnav,DVD plus the usuals.

That and the 4 buttons are all that I will need.

Keith, that Autobionics piece is very nice. They're clever chaps aren't they?

Wow well done thumbup. that’s what I would like to do with my car but I will have an IPod connected to my headset because I heard that stereos can’t be heard in the Ultima due to noise from the engine road etc.… ??

I agree Auto Bionics have innovative solutions for the Ultima and I am personally interested in their latest engine LS9.drink I hope there prices are affordable thought.

I have one of these which sits on top of the side pod beside the ignition switch.
My head unit is on the dsah but with the remote control the head could be anywhere.

Steve
Is there a head unit thats compatible that can output to an alternate display, maybe via a can bus.

Never had a car with sat nav so can’t see a need for that, having said that it was nice to be able to pair and link the iphone with the megan hire car the other month whilst in the UK.

On the theme of this thread, has anyone done anything with the std interior door handles? Either removing them altogether, or replacing them with something that hasn't come from a child's toy? On that note, the same goes for the exterior Fiat ones!

Mark,

I use the outer door handles of the Toyota Celica.
The inner handles work like the hand brake lever, handle and opener
in one piece.
Not finished in every detail but you get the idea.

But... don´t think about it if you want to finish your car in time and drive it.

Hi Michael - loving the interior handles, great idea and beautifully made. A great alternative to the std article. On the outside, I'd like to shave the handles completly and go for a very smooth look.... I'm thinking push button under the mirrors, TVR style maybe?

That’s a great idea let us know how it goes with the push button if you do them? I myself was thinking of a solenoid valve like the one in my corvette. It is a button connected to a solenoid valve that opens the lock upon touch. It works well and is used because its light weight compared to the traditional lock mechanism.

Of course. I will take another pic outdoor. There is a poor light inside the garaje.
