Tempted to take the Ultima again. I wish the factory organised a supported trip with backup vehicle that can take some of the junk that won't fit in an Ultima.

We will be there! We leave from Porstmouth, Thursday night, boat is FULL of PHrs... fantastic shipload of cars... I was in the q between 2 F40s, half a dozen Astons, and loads of great kit.... Hope to see you cars there. Must try to do an ultima get together this year... at least a drive by the entrance and get a team photo under the Lemans sign.

I'm putting a trip together again for next year. It is on my list of things to sort out in January.

Who is seriously interested? I could keep you posted. We will be traveling down on the Wednesday/Thursday, staying at the usual camp site and returning Monday. Portmouth to either Caen or C/Bourg. (Almost definately going down on the Wednesday but still TBC)

I can sort out the pitches direct with Dominique at the camp site, I would only need firm numbers. And get some prices early next month for the ferry crossing.

Did any of you guys go to the Le Man Classic in July?

Not such a big crowd and the surrounding roads stay open longer for everyone to taste.......

Not sure if it's on in '05 as it's meant to be a 2 yearly event but they were contemplating changing it to yearly.

I did both this year, and will do again in '06. I hope they keep it every other year otherwise it may bankrupt me. Really good event the classics! Worth the return journey.

If I can get a decent number interested I have a couple of ideas to make the trip a little easier for the Ultima/TVR owners amongst us. I'll be able to judge it better when I know how many are going.

I'd like to join you.
Went down in a convoy with Nick last year but it's a long way round going via Dover when you already live near Portsmouth.
What is the clearance like getting on the ferry?
Came back into Portsmouth but that was on the cat which had had modified ramp adaptors fitted only the week before.

Gareth - I have a Navara which I was thinking would make a superb support vehicle, I also have a driver in mind. Cheers.

Steve - I'm not aware of any problems getting on/off the ferry at P/Mouth. Paul Buck (Shithot) goes that route every year without any problems. Although secretly, I know he takes a poofy Merc SLK so he wouldn't have any problems would he ?

If any interested people let me know through this thread. I'll contact them early in the new year to firm things up so I can finalise numbers etc. I always prefer going down in convoy, it kinda adds to the weeks experience!

Paul - I should think so. Who/when are you sailing with? Also, what dates will you want the camping for and how many pitches?

I should have some prices next month. We are regulars at the camp site we use so we know we won't be ripped off there. The circuit general entry ticket is normally about 45 - 50 euros, so about 35 - 40 GBP (That allows full access to the whole track from the Wednesday night practice through to the end of race Sunday, including Saturday Pit Walk. It does not allow Granstand access.) Then there is the ferry cost.

I would guess at a budget for between £500 and £600 per car with two sharing. That would be ferry, camping and track entry. Parking can vary between 20 - 30 euro for the week.

The camp site is about 15km north of Le Mans along a rather good fast A road. It has two major benifits, 1) You have to use your car! and 2) You can get away from the noise and sleep!

Next year will be my fourth 24hr and I did the classics this year. I'll also be doing the classics in 2006 as well as the 24hrs.
