RE: New World Record
Discussion
What constitutes a Kit car?? I car made with componant parts from another vehicle perhaps?? What does that make an Aston martin then?
Sorry, Kit cars have come a long way and need to loose the stigma of a name so often used by uninformed people. Modern kit Cars are really limited production sports cars built with new parts and some very sophisticated new parts at that.
It all in my mind goes to prove that if car builders such as Ultima, TVR etc etc can build limited production sports cars for such a relatively paltry sum that can wipe a cloth over the production opposition which are commonly 2-3 to 6 times the price, then it shows just how much johnny public is being ripped off for their mass produced tin box.
hats off to these guys for keeping the British car industry alive.
neil.
PS A Rover, land rover and TVR owner.

This was done at Millbrook on the mile straight, I think even an Ultima might struggle to do a 0-200-0 there
Maybe it could at Bruntingthorpe - GuyR's RGT2 has basically done just that and while the Ruf is a stunningly fast 911 I don't think it could match either the acceleration or retardation of that Ultima.
Amazing times, great news.

Has anything been done to the car since taking the record before?
If not then you must have come away knowing there was more in there and didn't tell us, shame on you.
Nice one. Waiting for the videos.
Steve
Well the extra 45BHP (685 vs. 640) might have had something to do with it
Also it would appear they shaved off 2/10ths reaction time between 100 and putting on the brakes, reaction time before was like 4/10, this time (have not seen the actual timing sheet yet) it looks to be 2/10 from the numbers posted on the opening page.
So it appears they shaved 1/10th off the 0-100 time, 2/10th off the reaction time from gas to brake pedal, and 1/10th off the 100-0 time.

Congratulations to everybody involved.
That's almost two seconds faster than the special edition, 680bhp, £750,000 McLaren F1 LM!

this is obviously fastest for 'production' car and excluding motorsports type cars?
There is a 260Z competing in Victorian Hillclimb events that is 730bhp 6.1lt chev, semi-auto, 4wd that is possibly as fast/faster...it is the current issue of Race Magazine. However it is an unrealistic comparison give the race nature of the car...what 'category' is the ultima 'the fastest'?

It is amazing that a 2200 lb. car can put that much power to the ground. Excellent chassis and suspension setup.
