I use both forums, facebook is great for posting photos of a particular problem and getting relatively an immediate response This forum is great for peoples ideas and solutions on more technical issues. To link them would be fantastic but I think piston heads platform is a bit of a dinosaur when posting photos and trying to view them on your phone.....it really needs its technology updating otherwise sorry to say the piston heads forums will fall by the wayside.

On a more positive note...please keep the ultimo websites alive....particularly CJ's!!!!!

No reason we can't keep the two running side by side. Our forum is a fantastic source of info that should be kept. Agree with the comments that fb is easier to use etc. It's long past time the PH updated this platform to make photo sharing as easy as it is on fb.

As previously mentioned, I do however find myself checking out both sites but prefer PH yes we do miss you Dom, unfortunatly there are still numpties about ie somebody wanting to put a sun roof in a GTR ? That's on FB though I'm safe because he doesn't use PH anymore lol.

As the title says...if everybody goes over to Facebook then the benefits of this forum will be lost for ever.

I'm happy to be shown where I'm wrong but as I see it, and with very little knowledge of how to use Facebook, it seems impossible to follow a subject in the way a forum thread does and again impossible to search for a subject in the way you can with a forum.

Steve
The drawbacks you mention are very real even for the experienced.. its almost impossible to do long term searches there

The benefits however are real owners Admin the site, means they will allow linking to other sites as appropriate (such as PH) and link to dedicated for sale group section... people are allowed to advertise their stuff for sale, link to their classified adds etc.. all stuff you can't do on PH.

The Noble PH forum has completely died almost zero activity... many of the more knowledgeable owners don't even look at PH anymore meaning you don't get questions answered there. Its an unfortunate result of the way PH is admin now.

For information on the Noble FB group the factory are added so they see what goes on... i also belong to the Ultima FB group, its quite entertaining and absolutely fantastic seeing the latest owner of my old canal use and enjoy the car smile

Haymarket are doing to Pistonheads what they do to most things they acquire or run.

They milk the profits and avoid any investment. When profits start to fall they increase prices until advertisers and exhibitors say enough is enough, then close the event/business.

It has happened in agriculture. The Royal show and Smithfield show are both examples. The LAMMA show is the next on the list.

They are not an innovative company and my feeling is that Pistonheads will probably disappear within 5 years, so if you know how to build and run a good, adaptable, entertaining, car centred website - I would start now!

Two bad there wasn't an automated push / pull of the topic title between the two sites. Then if you are on FB and there is a new post to PH you would be aware and then click the link to get to the topic on PH and vise versa. I find myself going between multiple FB groups and PH.

Interesting comment. I wonder if it is possible at all with the two forums, or as said above, perhaps it is time to start something different which combines both FB and PH. Any geeks out there?

Talking to an exhibitor at the LAMMA Show yesterday he confirmed that for next year, when the show moves to the NEC, Haymarket have doubled the stand price to large exhibitors and trebled or quadrupled it to the smaller stands. The NEC will also charge visitors to park, which has been free in the past.

I give the show 3 years at most!

I know PH could integrate with the Facebook web services to push a topic title to the Facebook group. Not sure of the reverse where FB would push to PH.
