Evening all,
Im after some help with my Ultima GTR which runs an LS7 with dry sump.
My oil filter is located on the oil pan still. The thread to which the filter screws on to is removable, i.e it has two different threads, one to mate to the oil pan and the other to take the Delco oil filter (the blue one).
I believe this to not be the norm so I thought I would confirm the pan identity.
I hope you can see the pic, I see the part number as 12596688. Well this doesn’t seem to be a GM part as all the GM pans seems to start 1256xxxx.
Does anyone have any suggestions to which direction I should look?
P.S - are their any LS experienced services in the Southeast? I’m based in Suffolk.
Many thanks

I can't confirm your info but I can tell you that the LS7 has quite a few applications with different specifications for the non-core components.
Mine has an oil-over-water oil cooler which I believe is a Cadillac fitment.

The crate engines we get over here can be any fitment, and I have made the most of my oil-over-water cooler and removed the side pod oil cooler.

What is the issue you have? The Delco filters are dirt cheap and I pop a new one on every year (3k miles) with fresh oil (not so cheap Mobil 1!!!).

OP, what is the issue here? You just pick a filter to match your adaptor or am I missing something?

I understand that I should be using the high pressure version of the filter - UPF48R. The filter that has always been on mine is a PF46E - which is the same filter that goes on my 83 CJ Jeep!
I’ve removed the 46E and it had part imploded due to pressure. The can was fine but the filter itself had part collapsed.
I suppose I just fit a different thread converter (need to turn my own as don’t know where to buy one?) but wondered what the fitting was in others LS7 pans?
Really thanks again for the help. Who would have thought oil filter fittings could be so stressful!

Ok so I think I can stop chasing my tail..

I think the GM serial is 12596689 which is a legit LS3, LS7 and LS9 oil pan.
I believe it doesn’t have any pressure relief valve so I should be using a 48 type oil filter which has the spring in it.
It looks like I just need to get a thread adapter with the 22x1.5mm on the filter side.
Using GMPartSGiant, it looks like my pan has been replaced with 12664619.
It seems GM changes parts very frequently. I must have spent a few hours last night/ this morning reading through Corvette and LS forums reading explanations in the switch from type 46 to type 48 filters.
