Does any Sport owner know where I might find a pair of rear tyres 315x35r17 for my Sport. Replacements are about due after 30k miles.

After seeing that pic all I can say is; whatever you're doing in that car, you're doing RIGHT.

Hi Mike. Yes I still have it. Do you still have the GTR?
I lost the tyre at 50 mph but it didn't affect the handling much as the side walls are so stiff. I think the tyre problem relates more to tyre age than the way I drive the car unfortunately. The tyres are available as imports from the states but not so easy to find locally.

I just looked that size up and they're even hard to find in the US. If you jump up to 335 there are a few more options.

I had a front tyre blow out on my GTR.
I was several Leptons above the legal speed in the outside lane of the M25.
Car was driving nicely but I became aware of a rubber burning smell so started to slow and move to the inside lane.
It was only as I came down through about 50MPH that I started to feel something.
When I got out to look there was no visible evidence of a problem but when I pushed on the tyre it was clear that it was under-inflated.
I connected a pump but it had no effect. When I opened the clip I found that I could put my hand in the inner side wall almost all the way around the circumference.

I'm not sure a 335 would fit my rims although I guess 10mm either side would be minimal difference. I will take a look. The 315 I have (only one now!) Is supposed to fit an F40 but such cars don't get much used so rarely need replacement tyres. Chris Harris being the obvious exception. They are available in the US but I don't want to pay for transport and import taxes.

Yes I still have the GTR. Still finding things to do to it.
I changed all my tyres a couple of years ago due to some small cracks in the side walls.
You me and Steve D are three of the “old guard” still around!

I have been hoarding 315 sports tyres. I try and pick them up on ebay when I see them. They are getting pretty hard to find new although I picked up a pair of new Toyo R888's last year. I think they might make batch now and again and they do come up. Eventually, I think I will have to resize, although it seems just as hard to get wider fits in 18 and 19.

I have 2 spare pairs, a pair of unused Goodyear Eagle GS-C and a pair of part worns (Would need to go and look what make). If you get stuck drop me message

Hi Paul. A pair of Goodyear Eagles would be good. What sort of £ are you thinking of?

Hi Mike
Yes it seems so. People either sell their Ultima with a few miles after building it or never sell at all.

I recall when I built my car that I went with slightly wider rims than normal - meaning I don't have the return on the rear shell, it's cut flush and then had a couple of extra layers of glass on the outside to reinforce, along with the wing mounting. To that end, I wonder if I could squeek 335s on.
