New owner potentially
Discussion
I am currently in Mclaren but want to move to something very analogue. I have always wanted something with a big US engine and have been looking at Ultimas, Cobras and GT40 recreations.
I have a few questions if anyone can help!
Is there much support from the factory for upgrades on aero parts? if I wanted to add a wing, arch louvres etc. It would be good to get assistance on placement for aero.
How much price premium does a factory car normally command?
Is anyone based in the Surrey area so I can get a look around a car?
Many thanks!!!!

Hi Lee,
Unfortunately most owners are on a closed FB group nowadays so traffic here is pretty minimal...
Re aero, the factory can supply data on the gtr/evo setup and RS which has a lot of subtle changes that makes a big difference on track. If you’re keen on track work, aero wise an RS is the best choice.
Ref factory vs non that’s a tricky one. A factory car is a factory car is a factory car - you know what you’re getting, you know it’s been built to a certain standard, the factory will know everything about it. But that doesn’t mean they’re better than a good non factory car, in fact I’d say a good non factory car (like mine) is better than a factory car . Of course not all non factory cars are “great”, and these tend to be quite obvious. I’d say for identical spec and age cars, a factory car will normally be at a premium to non factory.
What mclaren are you coming from? And what’s the pork?
Comparing my Ultima on track to a reasonable track Porsche (997 rs with a few cup parts, updated suspension, brakes etc and good geometry) is easy. My ultima is significantly quicker everywhere other than hairpins. They’ll be very different to drive compared to a Mclaren and certainly nowhere as able a-b. But that’s not the point, they’re analogue as you say and all the better for it.
I’m sure there are a few owners around Surrey way, if you’re ever over around Bristol though I’ll gladly show you round mine.
