Managed to dig out my dyno sheet yesterday to see what the new engine was good for

Maximum power: 629.3bhp @ 6200rpm
Maximum torque: 614.6ft-lbs @ 4155rpm!

Average output between 4155rpm and 6000rpm:
572.6bhp and 591.8ft-lbs of torque

Here's the full story:

Which was nice

Is it just me, or does that dyno sheet look like it was written in crayon?

Careful in the wet Stig. You know how tricky all that power can be

Good to see Gail has done exactly what I asked. Devide by 1.5 to get actual figures. Also I would suggest to all builders that intend to use the ultima in the winter to protect the alley in one form or other. The lovely polished pannels below the radiator look dull after several thousands of miles and no salt.

Actually mate, Gail told me to post that one as the 'real' dyno sheet would make you too depressed and he didn't want you to spend all winter crying

Impressive figures.

Can't wait until she's old enough to come out to play.

Hope your fitting a dry sump!

How long until the SVA?

Stig. That's a pretty impressive dyno readout but what really took my eye was the oil temperature, which never exceeded 78F during the whole of the test. In fact, once the revs got up to 6900, it actually fell. I think that you may need to wrap an insulating blanket around your engine in order to get the oil temp up a bit. I have an old electric blanket which I could let you have at a good price.

Hmmm, seems like i got my calculations right then....they have put the spec of CR, camshaft and timing on the top of the page...thank you .....plugs were going to be a problem selecting, but not now

Nice engine Stig, i hope you have a very long relationship with her and treat her with the respect she deserves.....(thrash the tits off it)

Excellent, At le mans we were dreaming of a supercharger as the chassis is more than capable of taking it. Unfortunatey it doesn't matter how much power you have it is never enough!

Stig,

I am interested in jet size. With the discussions on the board, I am considering changing the jets on my carb from 72pri 80secs to avoid any danger of a lean running condition.

I am curious to know what is used on your engine as a guide. Also what other people are running.

Are we using standard jet sizes or have people upped them to err on the side of caution?

The dyno sheet looks as if it has been doctored (white blocks on the scan) to remove the details on jetting, plugs & cams. Do you have the jet info or was it not supplied?

Mark - I have got all the jetting details (I re-touched the Dyno sheet). I'll dig them out when I get a mo.

I think you will find that while an engine is on the dyno the oil temp will be low because it uses a Dry sump tank the size of a small house. On the car it will be allot higher.

Could even nock off what maybe 300bhp when fitted to the car.......

Stig,
While your digging out your spec sheets, if you have the readout of the Air/Fuel Ratio through the rev range that would be useful info? I could then run a comparison with mine.

Except that the optimum oil temp for power is over 110 (according to literature) so maybe thats 300bhp to add!!!!!

On the question of oil temp, I was very surprised with my engine, how long it takes to build up adequate oil temp, the cooler can be too effective for normal road driving! Just a thought for the owners who don't run an oil temp guage.

Isn't it possible to fit a thermostatic bypass valve ?

Yes, you could fit an oil thermostat and I think it would be a good idea if you don't have a guage fitted.
It wasn't an option when I bought my original oil system.
