Hi Guys,
I've been lurking in the background for some time now and found your comments to be very helpful.

I'm busy building a new double garage and will be ready to order an Ultima in easter. There's the first dilema,I loved the Can-am on the web site and went to the kit show at Donnington and saw the GTR in the flesh, now I can't decide between them?

After seeing some of the postings here I've become a little concerned about controlling all that power on the road especially in the wet ! I had a look round on the internet and found a site racelogic.co.uk that does traction control systems. They suggested that it's easier to fit their system to cars with ABS although it can be done without ABS.

I wondered if anyone else has tried to fit ABS or traction control to their car?

PS Great site there Simon and the car looks fantastic !

Andy

Have you thought about a CanAm with a full screen and a roof - there is at least one person on here with this option - he got the first production roof!!! This is possibly the option that I'd go for (Got to wait until April/May myself ) - I'm not an out and out racer, so being able to enjoy my car with the roof off on the three sunny days of the year appeals .

With regards TC, again, there is at least one member with it, and he loves it. Remember that if it is good enough for the F1 guys, then maybe it is worth a look . Getting a high performance system will allow you to tune it, or even turn it off completely - i.e. full when it looks a bit like rain on the roads, and off if you just have to do a 500+ hp donut .

All IMHO, there are a lot that say the right foot is best. I agree to an extent, but it would be nice to have the backup, just in case .

If you do a search on the previous threads, you will pretty soon ID the guys mentioned above.

Traction control is fine in the dry, but in the wet it`s a different story, but then I suppose as long as you don`t put too much faith in the system to correct everything and use common sense.

We had a couple of Esprit guys who put T/C on their cars and the 300 Sport comes standard with it, which makes them so much quicker out the corners in the dry, as I am sure it is the same with the Ultimas that the unloaded wheel spins if trying to put power down out of the corners, the traction control just fades that out, stops the spinning wheel, more traction, more speed. But 2 of the guys with T/C on their Esprits hate it in the wet, as very unpredictable. Be careful guys

If you want the best then use a Motec ECU that can control and map your Ignition, will map your fuel injection ( if you fitt it later ), and for 300ish quid have the added Traction control option. Then you can get out your laptop and see how your last lap looked on the data logging. Maybe even and a Geforce meter !!. The options are endless. To many Rally and GT race champions can't be wrong..

Sorry Ted Preaching again... is that enough self punishment.

Hi Clive

Well said thats one of the reasons i bought the
Motec M8 system you can controll and check a lot of things in one system.
and in these days i do feel fuel injection has the future as i can already notice here a lot of mecanics do not know anymore how to set up a carb you will have to go to a specialist wich will be even harder to find in the future

By the way yesterday i saw Top Gear with the test of a very quick car it realy doesnt look that great as an Ultima it was fitted with an bike engine
they also tested a twin engined Audi TT
i would be very curious where the Ultima would end in this test as the Zonda had 3th place
so at least the Ultima must be able to get 1st or 2nd
