I am not sure what fuel that motor is running on but if you really want to go nuts there have been a few CART & IRL engines on here for sale. They usually go for 15k us. The last one I saw was a caddilac or chevy 233 C.I. I believe it weighed in under 300 lbs. and put out about 700hp. Would make one heck of a track car and technically I would be aloud to drive it on the road in Canada

G Man......First of all you are my kids hero.....mine too for that matter....we all have your post about the 200mph border crossing on our walls! I must admit that I do have the 900hp beat! I've got 919hp! However in my case it took 34 cylinders and 8 of my cars to get there! Once the GTR is up and going I should be at 1429hp and 42 cylinders:-) Bring it on!

The recently completed (not yet installed) 9 liter Cadillac engine for my Fleetwood has 900 HP. That's with 92 octane though.

Andy
You can add them in as long as you drive the lawnmower to the next Ultima meet!!

I have a question about the track spec GTR? Is it wider then the normal GTR? Does it look better then the normal GTR? I'm in the US and I am searching everywhere for that EVO magazine with the GTR track Spec wide track GTR. I should probably be able to find it at WaldenBooks or Barnes & Nobles or something. It seems as if the Ultima GTR is wide enough, the wider one must look like a monster!!!
Hey Ultima GURUS..Is $15,000.00 US enough to start the build on a fairly limited budget? I was planning on getting at least the chassis, first couple of stages, the body(with the factory doing the pre-fit job) and maybe the wheels and tires to start. I'm very anxious, can't wait to get started!!

I think its only in the Febuary issue of EVO it was not in the January issue. I have been looking for it also but I have been told they have not received it yet.

Ultimalover, you would not be needing the body, nor, wheels & tyres till quite late on in the build. The chassis, panels & suspension would be first.

Hi UltimaPaul..what I was thinking is it would be easier to get the body pre-fit onto the chassis. That way when I am nearing the end of the build, fitting the body wouldn't be as difficult as usual because of the factory already putting the time into fit and finish. Is that a good idea?

You'd need to chat with the factory. I can't immediately see a major problem with your rationale. There may be something that needs to be fitted before a pre-fit could take place. I just can’t think what!!!

Paul.

The main issue is not having to ship that size of box across the pond twice.
If the factory can prefit the body with nothing else in place then that is your starter (Stages 1, 15, 16).
Then Stages 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14.
Double skin kit, Luggage pods, Handbrake & cables (from stage 6), Battery cables.

That should keep you busy for a while. You will not need the wheels, brakes, suspension as they can easily be fitted later. what you have above will allow you to fit all the bits that go from front to back down the side pods so those can be fitted and the body put back on.

If anyone spots something I have missed please shout.
Steve

Edit2
You will need a dolly with castors as you won't have suspension for some time. See Stig's site for a picture and dimensions.

Do cars or parts sent to N.A. have to still pay VAT? If so can it be recouped? This would be shipped to Canada. Thx.

I didn't have to pay VAT when I ordered mine back in 1998. It was sent to the US though. I had Ultima prefit my body onto the chassis before they shipped it over. All I had to do was drill out a few rivets, unbolt the body, and pull it off and store it for a while. Of course this was with the older sports, but I don't see why it couldn't be done with the GTR or CanAM.
Cheers!
