insulation question
Discussion
I was going to buy some heat insulation for the to put between the alloy in the rear bulkhead. I found some cheaper stuff http://store.summitracing.com/product.asp?d=13&s=131&p=2398&searchtype=ecat
it says it will withstand up to 400 degrees. Will this be enough or should I go with the more expensive DEI http://store.summitracing.com/product.asp?d=13&s=131&p=446&searchtype=ecat or Thermo tech

Mark. If the rear bulkhead ever gets up to 400F I should bale out as the engine's on fire. Seriously, a friend of mine with a Sports has measured temperatures of around 200F under the engine cover on very hot days. The highest I've seem on my Sports is 55C (around 130F) but I have two extraction fans at the back of the car which I always have running in hot weather. I haven't used any special heat resisting insullation between the aluminium panels on my rear bulkhead and everything is fine after nearly 4 years. Hope this helps.
I have double skinned the whole of my rear bulkhead right up to the rollbar. Inside is a layer of 'Barrier Matt' stuck to the cockpit skin and 2 layers of 1/2" felt. This will do for sound deadening but will then need the same treatment as Stigs for heat.
I would post some photos if I knew how.

My car is the can-am so the rear bulkhead ends lower down, however the principle is the same.
I have to admit I only insulated the lower alloy panels due to cosmetics and have relied on the carpet to do the job. My main concern was keeping the road noise down which is why I concentrated on the alloy paneling.
I applied a double layer of a Dynomat equivalent first, then used two layers of heat resistant fibre mat, I polished this off with a final layer of the heat resistan matting (same as on STIG's rear bulkhead). This lot filled the cavity between the alloy panels and has worked well.
