Well if they don't, at least they still look good (to me)

Is there room between clip and air filter to fit a fan?

Thought:- A reversible fan to blow hot air out when sitting in traffic then switch it over to blow cooler air direct onto the filter for when you want power.

Just spotted the flaw in this. CJ doesn't want any more power.

I see what you are saying there Steve but remember, the blades of the fan are designed to pull or push air and to my knowledge, there is not a unit available that will run effectively in either direction whilst installed. I too am looking at ways of ventilating the engine bay more successfully and will be concentrating more around the exhaust area and maybe some kind of louvres in GRP along the bottom of the 'scoop' and I will be boxing/insulating the air intake. I am also looking at fitting a diffuser and a ground effect fan type system on the floor of the engine Mclaren style. I am trying to get a flow through the area in all scenarios. As you know, I have two Spal fans to fit onto the rear grill to help hot air evacuation in traffic, the space to fit them being created by having the exhaust exiting in the centre of that area. Only concern I have at the moment is the draw on the alternator to run all these fans! Bloody car will think it's a Veyron at this rate with all these fans (not the weight though). I am very lucky in as much as I have a very clever and skilled man working on all of these ideas with me so it will be a little more than guesswork that goes into this and will be an improvement over standard.

Spot on Steve.

I'm happy to take anyone out in the Can-Am to show that a 'meagre' 400hp is more than enough for the road. In fact, I'd go as far to say that even 300hp would be plenty

Nothing wrong with having more however - each to their own. I just reckon, from experience, that monster power has more negatives than benefits for road use and let's face it, the road is where most Ultima's spend 99% of their time.

Well, did a thorough road test today and can confirm that the louvres do their job as well as I'd hoped - cool engine bay and no backwash on the cockpit

Sometimes the best solutions are the simplest!

Chris, pardon my ignorance but do you actually own an Ultima only there is no mention of it in your details? If you are interested in the 'evacuation of heat from inside the rear clip' notion, I am currently working on a revised rear clip arrangement that may be of interest, if not to you, then anyone out there with a problem in this area that needs solving.
