Just an innocent question from an ultima fan:

I was wondering what the main differences were between the ultima mark one, (there is one advertised in the classified) and the latest models. Are the wheel bases the same? I notice the body panels have different styling but is it just the front and rear panel that are different?

cheers

You'd need to speak to Ted, but, I think there is quite a lot that has changed .... remember, the Ultima development has moved on a lot. Even the last Mk4 to the GTR meant many subtle changes. At a guess I would say less than 10% of components would be interchangable .... this is a guess though.

The latest cars are basically the same size. most of the changes are in the styling and i'm sure you will find that every panel is different.
If your concern is will you be able to get spares then talk to Ted at the factory.
There are many who still prefer the old shape so if the price is right and you are happy with it then dive in. The driving experience will be every bit as good as the latest models.
Enjoy

Steve D - Having driven both Mk3 and Mk4 sports aswell as my GTR I would agree with what you have said. However, the very early cars were quite different, the pedals are far more offset and the dash/scuttle impeads into the cabin more arround the door aperture. These cars have evolved a lot since the Mk1 was designed. I would love to try an early one to see how far on they have come!
