Isn't the point of the factory record that it uses all factory approved parts and you can buy a car from them, to that spec?

Sorry boxedin, but I'd rather see that Silver TT GTR (with 960 bhp) one going down the 1/4 mile...

True, but this is not about records, just who has the faster car, it's just a bit of fun.

Hey Wayne

I might come and join you at the Pod! The Procharged Can-Am 650 will soon be on the road. After the winter testing and fitting of my secret weapon it should be quite a close match.

Isn't the factory times include 10.3, 9.8 and 9.4. But I have seen other sites list the second 0-100mph-0 record as 9.9 secs. It can't be right as the Ultima Sports Website clearly states 9.8.

Wayne, I wish you best of luck in beating the factory record times. I would like to see a GTR cracking the 8 second mark though.

It is only a quarter mile race, not the whole shooting match I am afraid but 8 seconds! No way mid to low 9's but even that is hoping for a bit much I think. All I need to do is dip below 9.9 and I will be laughing all the way to the bank, I can't wait.

Are you sure Richard was offering folding money or parts off the shelf.

Steven, I ask you, what good are standard parts of the shelf to me eh? On second thoughts, that has given me an idea?. If the GTW is a failure (extremely hypothetical scenario I know) I may need all the standard parts I can get my hands on to build a CanAmrolleyes

Did the bet involved the agreement of using street tires or any sort of tires as long as it's street legal? There are hoosier slick dot legal tires. Many drag racers use it to run 7-8 secs quarter mile and street legal.

There were no stipulations and I am quite happy that the GTW will use the same factory spec Goodyears to create a fair platform.

Ok, so shouldn't you be aiming for 0-340kmh in 18secs then?

Surely in that case, it's more of a GTC than a GTW?

With regards to my measly wee 650bhp compared to the mighty 720bhp of the factory record holder (for now in any case), I can only hope to be a little more polished behind the wheel than Richard or perhaps have slightly less of a head wind on the day to stand a chance but I am an optimist, and feel that the GTW will prevail.

Good luck to you Wayne. Though, given that Richard has literally been 'brought up' in Ultimas, that's a brave statement!

Look forward to seeing how you get on spin

May be around to take up the gauntlet with you. May bring the other GTW (GT White) with it's 535 standard and the I am Dreaming twin turbos and NOS working at an undisclosed figure. Let us know when and will be there as support. Will even be the tea boy for the momentus event, being a young pup an all.

As we all know, in this life you get what you pay for and the fact that I have paid for this project, and boy have I PAID!, I feel fully justified in calling it a GTW. As I have said before, I would like to have built the car myself but upon reflection accept that I would not have ended up with something as modified as this. Also, Clive is not the only person to work on the car and not being able to decide on CTC, GTS, GTDa, GTP etc., GTW was the right option.confused

I hear what you are saying about Richard being bought up in Ultimas but that will not make the demonstrator a faster car will it.idea
