Congratulations Stig.

As somebody who would like an Ultima but know I will never be able to afford it (married with child ) I think you have done really well, and your web-site is fantastic. IMHO the people who have been slagging you off recently have been doing so from jealousy and you should just ignore them.

CJ, apologies for the other day, I think the Guinness got the better of me...
The car looks absolutely fantastic, bet you can't wait to give it a test drive.
By the way bit concerned at the size of the hacksaw they were using on your baby.

Thanks all. It hasn't really sunk in that it's ready!

I just pray that the weather holds for the weekend and that Saddam doens't nuke me beforehand!!

Car will be at the open day where I hope to meet a few of you in person, and you never know, I may not be the knob that some of you think that I am!!

PS. No promises though

Chris has managed to build both a great car and a great website that serves as a reference for builders and other dreamers worldwide.

Many thanks for your work.

Yep. Well done buddy. I hope it goes as well as it looks. I'm sure it will though.

If you feel like an early trip out to Tadley, just to help run it in, give me a shout

Just had a nice email from Richard Marlow who is (to date) the only person to have driven it more than 10 feet

"I've going to be tied up with some foreign factory build customers all day today who are collecting their cars and Ted isn't here either so I'm not going to get a chance to do a proper road test on your GTR. However I've just quickly been up the road in it for 1 mile and I can confirm it goes like absolute fxxxxxg stink!"

Which was nice

Your website was a great help, thanks.
I think you may have fudged the build hours though.
Let us know how the first test drive feels.

Jeff - build hours are pretty accurate. You need to add about another 40 for factory stuff and other bits and bobs.

All told, it's come in at well under 400 hours although like all self-build cars, they're never actually 'finished'

Goes like absolute fxxxxxg stink huh? Could this be the Mclaren killer we've been waiting for? Good job on the website Stig, and congratulations on your build!

Jeff my GTR is well on target to take around the same number of hours as Stigs to build. Yours may be taking longer because you are using a different engine and other parts to the usual factory spec which must take a lot longer to fit.

Did you guys paint the inside of your bodys? I spent 28 hrs just masking off everything. Also masking and painting the black band around the headlight covers and side windows took 12hrs. For sure the special stuff I've done is taking a little longer. I also installed 3M chip guard film to the bottom of the side pods to prevent stone chips. I'm gonna have about 500 hrs, 5 months of steady work, not counting the engine build up. Maybe I'm just too detail oriented.
