I know this is a no no for many but I still intend to fit a radio.
To those who also have radio, what type of FM antenna did you use and where fitted?
Thanks
Steve

ULTIMAN put a roof bee sting one on his sport which works well, you have this option as you are building a GTR.

I have tried to hide mine under the body on the opposite side to the fuse box. I've tried 3 types..normal extendable one, then an earthed bee sting one, and finally an amplified one meant for the screen.

My advice if you wish to hide it like me is to speak to the factory (who fited stereos to both of their can-am demo cars!) or ULTIMASIMON who is knowlegable in this area.

Steve, nice to be able to help you in return. As Andy says, mine is in the roof (the aerial) and works OK though not as good as a full size extendable. lt was a tricky job to fit it through as the glass fibre is quite thick and most aerials are intended for thin sheet metal. The earth is to the chassis and the aerial sits just in front of the engine cover clip. The radio head unit sits in the dash in front of the passenger but l have a remote dash control which l fitted on the cill next to the gear lever so l always use that. The downside to the dash location is that the vent to the windscreen on the passenger side had to be abandoned. lt is a tight fit. l have the 10 CD multi changer just off the floor and behind the seats so it is accessible for disc changes and this works well. Listening to the radio is rare for me in the Ultima as without high volume, the intricacies of speach are lost. l tend to go for constant volume music on the CD instead. At high speed the music is a waste of time, just listen to the engine (and the tyres) as that is all you can hear. l havnt chosen the route of mega speakers covered by woks as one unfortunate ex-GTR owner did as l fancy retaining my hearing a little longer.
l will start a new post on camshafts in due course whan l know more.

I've just bought the radio along with the remote joystick which I also intend to mount on top of the side pod.
The radio along with mobile phone and 2 way radio then connect into a motorcycle intercom system. I am then using headphones with noise canceling mics.
Should work, we will see.

You will also need a microphone in the engine bay, perhaps near the exhausts so you can switch over and hear the best sound of all.

Don´t forget to install the cd box into the engine bay. It´s the best way to listen "hot music".
Please explain how to listen music in a Ultima. May be before fit the engine? When stopped in the garage? At the pub?.......my god.

I think that Tuckshop had the hi-fi side of things covered.

Just make sure you've got a couple of woks and the reception should be fine.

Until you drive it perhaps?......
