Right, now that my car is on the road, needless to say the site is a bit short of updates, 'cos I'm busy driving it

I intend to do some video stuff on road, track etc. but what other stuff would be useful to read about?

Any suggestions (sensible ones please) ?

How about a bit on servicing such as the recent debate on oils in the wedges site, also common faults in use.

Good point. Maybe a new section "Living with a GTR?"

Got any upgrades planned?

"Living with a GTR" sounds like a good idea to me... personally I think that could be quite interesting...

Mentions of what 'tweeking' you (or others) do to improve/adjust the Ultima to your own needs/driving style etc...

Maybe review of what tracks you take it to, how well it goes on each.

Other things like Running cost (to dispense popular opinion that these cars are expensive to run!) and things that have gone wrong or needed upgrading.
I have to say that I think you will find it difficult to write this kind of thing without seeming heavily biased and thus getting stick.

Oh and probably the most important... maybe some 'official' timed performance runs etc.... I was speaking to an employee of a mainstream magazine the other day and it was very clear they think the Ultimas performanance claims are over-inflated.

WE MUST PROVE THEM WRONG!!!!!

Am busy updating the 'tips' section as this is a lot easier in hindsight!

Have put up the first 'road test' in the build diary. But will add a new section 'Living with a GTR' which will form the basis of most of the new stuff.

Cheers for the suggestions lads - keep 'em coming!

When Evo magazine reviewed the track special GTR with 450 BHP I think they did some gps timed runs. Unfortunately they did not include the data in the article but updated the info at the back of the magazine. I noticed this as the performance data was now in bold (meaning the magazine had achieved those figures & they were not manuacturer's claimed times). I think the times were 3.9 0-60 and mid 8 secs to 100.

well spotted.

Sounds about right for the spec, its a shame they didn't include it in the write up....

so if a 450bhp GTR does 0-100 in mid 8 seconds and a 526Bhp can-am does it in mid 7 seconds.....can a supercharged 600+bhp GTR get into the 6 second bracket?

.......and can anyone beat these (AS engined) times???

I also agree with Andy, some real good measured performance numbers will gain Ultima some respect.
A 526 bhp Can Am should do 0-100 in 6 seconds flat.
Of course most G50's have a huge gap between 1st and second gear ratios which could cost time. Do you guys have BFG or Nitto 555R Drag Radial tyres over there?
My 4200 lb Cadillac Fleetwood does 0-100 in 8 seconds with Nittos.

Hey stig,
I first found your website back in August, and have been an avid reader ever since (before I ask my question I'd like to say thanks - its brilliant!).

One thing that I'd be really interested to know is how much your ultima costs to insure. How do they value on a car that has (hopefully) comparable performance to a mclaren f1, but yet costs less than a big jag?
