Loads of ultimas for sale
Discussion
There seems to be a fair few ultima's for sale out there. I was wondering why, as the cars should be fairly rare. Also I note that most of them haven't even covered many miles. Why is this?
My guess is maybe everyone now wants a radical / westie xtr2 as a track car instead, and are maybe swopping.
Or maybe the cars are no good on our uk roads?
Or am I just reading too much into all this?

I think your reading too much into it.
A radical is the only real viable upgrade from an Ultima and it's slower in a straight line and useless as a road car.
As a road car an Ultima is easier to drive than a lot of other sports car's, the only real drawback is getting in and out. (I'm qualifed to judge as I also drive a Boxter and a modded cossie).
Also you need to look at the milage compared to age. mine is only 8 months old and has done over 2500miles, thats quite a lot for a 3rd car or 'toy'.
And you must remember that I beleive there are much more Ultima's produced in a year than Noble M12's.
I think there just happens to be quite a few Ultima's up for sale at the moment....

Sorry to disappoint you, but I know that there are at least two of us thinking about the Debts we have. I myself have a little too much of the stuff. So plan is sell the GTR, pay off debt, and while building a new GTR (which may take a little longer this time round), use the money to make enough to finish the old girl with no Debt. Therefore allowing me to go on trips around Europe, and do allot more Tack days.
I will miss the Car allot, but I will not miss the Debt Payments.
Long story short; Sell this one Build another one. An Ultima is defiantly the Car for me. Even If I won the lottery I would still have one in my collection.
Just Love at first Sight, and Lust and First Drive....

In Clive's case I think you may be right. If I had a garage of my own I would most certainly be looking into "buying in bulk" and building a few as "specials".
Ah but what would be the point mate? To make it viable you'd have to charge factory money and so what would be the advantage of using an independent rather than the factory???
Nope, it's a common misconception that you can build these cars to make a 'living' (unless perhaps you live in the States!).
Just drive them, enjoy them and when the time comes, sell them to a good home.
The residuals are never gonna budge as there's no such thing as a 'cheap' Ultima - nor should they be.
Remember, it's US that control the resale value!!!
Sorry Stig, but you got the wrong end of that stick. Ask me when you see me and you'll understand the Joke.
But yes Money makers these cars will not be, but getting your money back 95% of it anyway, we might. So you could say they are fun to Build, bloody good fun to drive, and you don't loose shed loads of money when you sell. You just Devote the Time to Build them, stand back with a Proud look and say I BUILT THAT.
