Be careful with the emissions/SVA/SBC combination. At my SVA, my carbed SBC Pre 76 was made to pass 1980s emissions as they would not take my proof of age as 'proof' and went my block casting number instead. It passed by the way, after the tester spent 30mins+ adjusting my idle fuelling. I would therefore expect most old engines to make 1980 emission levels with perhaps a bit of tweeking.

I was going to have a look at this car. Owner was doing circa 130 mph when someone pulled out in front.I no nothing about ultima chassis,s so being clever i spoke to the owner of ultima cars.Cant remember his name but called to find out spares availability, what a nice guy straight and honest.I took his advice as it could cost circa 15k to get it back on the road very uneconomical i think.
Body shells can be made but are packed away in storage and would cost a small fortune to make.Assume the gearbox could be cracked as well as bent chassis wishbones front and rear broken screen etc. Also how the hell would you get it on a trailer.I will carry on dreaming and watching them on you tube.

I don't wish to dwell on whos' fault it was here...but you can't blame the poor sod who pulled out in front, can you?

Getting back to the car, I think the factory ought to buy it. What you see on impact there, is a text book example of a crash test! I would have said it passed pretty well, don't you think?

If I was to buy it, I would get the chassis modified for a CanAm body, but on the whole, I would say the car's not worth more than a couple of Grand as it is.

If you have to weld on a new front radiator section then you might as well weld on the new Can-Am / GTR front and that's half the conversion to the latest chassis.....
Yep can-am would be the way to go...

How much does he want ?? anybody asked him ??

Nice guy told me he had been offered 7 grand for it but too much especially after talking to the factory. The steering wheel is bent so that gives you an idea of impact but driver got out o.k.Hurt his leg by all accounts.

Just spoken to the guy, he wants over £10k for it and again confirmed he had been offered £7k already.

If I had been offered £7k I would take it, I spoke to this dude for a price, and he mentioned that he was looking for between £7 and £9k and there was NO chassis damage, and it would be an easy fix, but I am all out of fairy dust, and don't know any good magicians, what does anybody think it may be worth for the engine / g,box though ??

If you take into account the various bits of electrics, fittings, lights and the odd wheel it may just be worth 7K.
But again I would say you need to confirm you would get support for the other bits you will need from the factory.
The main thing would be to see if the chassis can be saved as that would be a major step forward.

Possibly, but I doubt it.
Even if it was repaired to original, because of it's history, it would still be about £5k short of what a similar spec car could achieve.
That would make it worth about £20k ? Which means you would need to spend less than £13k to fix it and those of us that have built our cars, know that would be a bit of a tall order!

Ahh.....A racing driver type. Whilst you are here, what's your slant on these here Carbon/Mag wheels. Should I be hoppin' in them?

Lucky
You know what I mean! Your Lucky the video camera was not on and I know why they call you Lucky now haha biggrin

Sorry, I have not heard about these? Can you give me a link? Sounds like there going to be a lot lighter with Carbon/Magnesium, but will be very expensive I bet!

10K!! OMG.
I'd be interested in it to re-engine my car with.
Reckon I could do all new components (except box) for about the same.
Mmmm - 10 year old crashed components or new. Difficult decision.
