Are these lifts ok for lifting the Ultima?

Presumably you have to be pretty careful where you apply the pressure.

If they are OK then £950 seems a good investment for easy access underneath (and for other cars too).

CORRECTION TO ORIGINAL POST I AM SPEAKING OF A 2 POST LIFT. 2 POST LIFTS ........... work well on the Ultima, although you need to lift the rear end up several inches to get the floor pan high enough to lift on the outside forward corner. The rear end can be lifted on the frame rails just in front of the rear wheels. I use a rubber pad in the front to avoid scuffing the paint. In the back I use a small block wood only as wide as the frame rails to avoid touching the horizonal body panel in front of the rear tire. once you get the car on the rack you raise the car beyond the mechanical locks and then lower it back down onto the locks. The locks are spaced about every 4 inches on my rack. The car is than as safe as the mounting system between the rack and the floor. You need to start with a good concrete pad. If you can find the room to fit a lift you will be thanking yourself and enjoying your hobby more for years to come. Lee

I have a 4 post car lift which I purchased from a tyre dealers that was moving and having new equipment.
They delivered it for a total of £500. It will lift 3 tonnes so I can walk under the vehicle. I can have all 4 wheels off and still access the underside of the car. (Sorry no pictures as I am away from home)

If you have the space then I would try to find a professional lift of this type s/h.

What you need is a Flat bottomed Scissor lift. I have drawn one up but you can buy them if you don't fancy making it....

Am selling the full CAD drawings for £50, if you want to save some money....

I'm an engineering student and your CAD (without 2D drawings) would help a lot our group for a course of structure analysis. Would you be able to share with us your CAD?
I hope so!
Thank you,
