Guys

Has anyone got any experience of fitting power steering to a GTR - is it possible and if so what bits are needed. I do a load of trackdays during the summer and by the end of the day the steering has just about finished me - it runs on wide trackday/slicks and it is murder especially through hairpins. I know that I could buy a Porsche or some other power steered thing or go to the gym more but I kinda like the Ultima and want to take some of the effort out. Cheers chaps

high what size steering wheel are you using?? I know this seem daft to ask, but you will be supprised how many steering wheels are only 280-300mm ... if you fit a 350mm the radius is larger so teh steering lighter....

And how far away is the wheel from your body.. straight arms are a no-no... if you look at a lemans car the drivers arms are nearly 90 degrees to his body as the shoulders are so much stronger....

There are various elctric power steering kits you can get which alot of the hotrod and classic guys use, using I think corsa type power steering ram... its electric and you can turn it off or connect it so its speed related... My personal experiance is the ultima steering feels great in the turns and if i made it lighter I recon id bin it!!!

You can get the corsa fitting kits on ebay and it depends if you want it varaible with speed or not... if you cant find it , give me a shout and ill look it up as i did alot of research into it a couple of years back

Good luck

Dom

The Corsa electric column can be made to fit with one of the aftermarket patch-module set-ups. I think an irish company on e-bay were selling the electronic patch kit for about 50 Euro.
Lots of Corsa B's in the breakers.....make certain you collect the GM pwr strg module at the same time as I underdstand you need this too.

Good luck.

I recall that Scuffers (off here) was fitting power steering to the Prosport - might be worth asking him.

chiron sportscars had to add EPS variable speed assist on the Aspira and a quicker rack as the "SLC" was totally unusable on the street.
