Time for the Scenic to go... Does anyone buy cars privately? Nearly all the ads I see are trade. What's the best route to sell? sgcarmart?

Call the finance company to find out your "minimum amount" then stick it in SGCarmart.

You will get loads of traders taking the piss on price, hence knowing your absolute minimum depending on how much of a hurry you are in to sell.

Otherwise just go direct to the car dealers in Holland V, Racecourse Road etc and see what they will give you - they will look at the Scrapage value of the car as the maximum they will pay.

No finance to settle. =)

I was thinking of giving quotz a try. It's owned by sgcarmart. From what I understand, you give them s$100 for an inspection which they use to craft an add for an online auction. The traders then make silly bids and if you like the top bid, you head down and trade. Sounds fair in theory. Anyone tried it?

How good is a cheque in Singapore? I'm guessing I don't handover until cleared funds are in my account?

In the end I listed it on Sgcarmart. I received a grand total of 0 calls. It sold within a few days to a fellow expat from work, the only one who came to see it.

Mental note - always buy a popular/desirable car in future.
