Says COE 'till 2011, so don't have to do that immediatly, but the road tax possibly, they dont believe in selling cars with tax on them here!!

Nice touch on slagging off the rest of the dealers stock rofl

I wasn't going to comment on that F&F dial but since you mention it, it is a bit Ah Beng!

I sure your thinking of modding it with :

1. A Tasteful set of neons
2. Big bore exhaust
3. Furry dashboard

We await the results ....

yes what is it with the shag pile on the dash thing out here ... seems to be a fairly new thing, comonly found in a Hyundai Getz or a Kia Katpoo!!

Slightly OT but was wandering around the AML building on Ubi Link yesterday and started to learn a bit more about PARF rebates on cars and how they work ...

The motor dealers have access to an LTA website that tells you what the PARF rebate on a car will be at any given time in the car's life.

For example, i was looking at 4 year old CLS 350's for around $140k. So assuming i own the car for 2 years, at that time i could "scrap" it and get $70k in tax rebate before the value of the shell, and the remainder of the COE back too. So if the car is $40k, plus $10k for remainder of COE, thats $10k / year depreciation and garunteed cash back before i even start haggling on the purchase price!

The best deal was a 5 year old BMW 645 for $110k with a PARF rebate value of $73k.

on a car that started new at $170k and not even including your COE rebate, thats 6% depreciation per year - pretty damn good really!

Amazing, $110k for a 645!

The paper depreciation is fairly straight line, the body (or shell) is, I suspect, a different story altogether...

We were chatting with the dealer and he had decided that the car was going to be scrapped this week, (so probably gone already). He reconed that it was going to go to Thailand where he reconed that the shell would get between $30 / 40k.

I was sorely tempted as it could have made for 1 years (overall) very affordable motoring, basically just road tax and petrol.
