Great thread!

I pulled a Pioneer SX-590 receiver out of a skip with a seized tuning knob, freed off easily. I hook my iPhone up to the aux in and it drives some lovely period Castle Richmond speakers via mains cable speaker wire.

I also have one of these Pioneer Tx-606 tuners for sale if anyone wants it:
I gave one of those SX950 receivers away a few years ago, I wish I'd kept it, lovely bit of kit.

Apologies for the dreadful picture quality, my phone cam is broken and this old thing is hidden behind the sofa as I have no where to display her frown

Maybe compared to some of the stuff on here, but I remember getting a paper round to pay for that, have had it since my early teens so it seems like I've had it forever now! smile

I think 70's and early 80's gear are considered now to be 'retro'....Don't think anything with a 'digital source, i.e cd player fits into the retro category imho.

You see, my hi-fi is the oldest working example of such a device amongst any of my mates.

Most people that I know now have either a £50 iPod dock, or a small micro system from Asda. The highest quality audio system from any of my mates is one who has a decent home cinema setup, and one who has a Bose iPod dock.

Apparently by their definitions, mine is retro!!

Unfortunately a lot of the 'high end' stuff were only sold in the Far East/America so very limited opportunity to buy in the UK.

Spent a few hours on this site and there are some really nice gear to drool over.

Noticed just how much stuff I was searching for cropped up in the US..cheap, too (if you live there) The postage is a killer to the UK though.

I will get another pic up next week of my gear once the proper cassette deck and tuner arrive by the way.

Moving on..Anyone heard of pink triangle turntables? Was telling a guy at work about this old hi-fi gear and it turns out he is quite an enthusiast! He still has a pink triangle turntable which cost him quite a bit several years ago.

Seems they are still going..

Well after a search round another charity shop, look what I found bounce OK it needs a good clean etc. But for the price I paid for it who cares.

Nice biggrin Let us know how you get on with it.
Disaster! Went to plug it in and found the fuse on the back was missing. I should have checked a bit more before purchase frown

Here is a link to some breakdown photos.
Leak Delta 30 Amplifier

I am now selling it because I don't have enough time to fiddle.

Oh! Is it not simply a case of putting the fuse back in?

Oh and if anyone annoys their other half by collecting a few bits, show them this video..

Nice collection but mostly very mundane sounding equipment from what I can see.

Real audiophiles have collection like this:

Bit of an update. This isn't where it will be staying, but as bits arrived I have just been testing.Nothing expensive here.Cassette deck needs a belt which I have just got, tuner has a wee dent, but works fine.Record deck is a 'that will do' cheap purchase.Best result was the old Pioneer hifi rack.I won it for a quid biggrin

I also have two other tuners and two other cassette decks, but I doubt they will be used now as all the Pioneer stuff just looks better together.More to come as and when..

Another update..

Got hold of some reverb thingy (not tried it yet)..it's sitting on the top of the stack. Also have an EQ on its way from the USA.

I also picked up these at the weekend..

Celestion Ditton 15XR's.Have to say, for 70's speakers, the clarity is just wonderful! I am also going to pick up another set at the weekend, although they are the earlier 15 model and not the XR version.

My Dad has just upgraded, he's had a Technics set up that I remember him bringing home in the Ford Cortina eek, I'll try get some pics whenI'm next there if he still has it. Massive behemoth it is, turntable, amp, tape deck, CD player and radio, matched with Wharfedale floor standing speakers. I think he still proudly states we were the first on our street to have a CD player!!
