There’s no way I’d spend more than I really have to on kettle leads. I’ll admit to using a Graham’s Hydra for my Naim gear, bought used for £70 and would probably still sell for that. Mainly for convenience.
But, I would love to give some of these ‘exotic’ mains cables a go, just for a laugh.
I’ve also bought some decent three pin and IEC plugs to make my own mains leads, but haven’t got round to buying the cable to join them. I like nicely fitting, snug connections. Apart from that, there’s not much else to them except maybe shielded.

Think for a minute how much better the coffee would taste using that.......cleaner power delivery, less distortion of coffee granules, minimise burning taste due to linear power delivery, allows better coffee/mild integration for a smoother taste and that's without even discussing the imaging!

and 55 grand for 1.5m speaker cables.....35 grand for what is essentially a kettle lead?!?

Reading through some old reviews (Clicky...) of their (slightly cheaper, but no less ludicrous) predecessors...
Apparently, you can't mix and match them with other cables. Oh no.
You have to go for an entire system's worth, from wall socket, via interconnects to speakers otherwise you only hear a fraction of what they can do!
Otherwise you would be wasting your time, and money. Obviously.
If you do, putting 100 grands worth of cables into even a 10 grand system "...makes such a system appear understandable and logical".
The best quote for me though :-

So, precisely what does Nordost Odin 2 do that makes it so exceptional? Nothing. It does nothing to the sound of your system, but it does nothing better than almost every other cable out there.

I heard some of the Valhalla mains cables a few years ago when they were trying to get the shop i worked in to open an account. But, I would love to give some of these ‘exotic’ mains cables a go, just for a laugh.

The effect they had on the system was truly remarkable, bass tightened up a lot and mid was much cleaner.
Would i pay for them?- Don't be f*****g stupid - even the trade price was ridiculous, and no, i'm not going to tell you the dealer margin.

So many people respond immediately with “did you do a blind test” without accepting that there are some changes to hifi systems that even a dead tree can hear. But hey, some people waste their lives drinking Carling and can’t tell the difference between HD and UHD!
But we're talking about a mains cable...the thing that's connected to the crappy wiring in your house. Which plugs into a fairly basic transformer in the amp / CD / streamer / turntable. take-good-care-of-the-forest-dewey said:

Yes. I know. And I’ve seen the arguments for 30 years. And I agree with science and engineering. And then I hear a bloody difference ffs lol. Sometimes you just need to accept things, and also accept that we might not be looking in the right place when we say “It can’t work”. nelly1 said:

If you want to spend a chunk of money why not run your amp of a nice big battery pack? Complete isolation from that nasty mains supply. To get really fancy have apair so one set can be charged while running off the other.35 grand for what is essentially a kettle lead?!?

Not original at all, but, do the maths on how long a sensible battery will last while playing it loud. And I’ve read that batteries don’t necessarily produce clean power. It’s a shame!

Surely it would depend on which batteries you use. I have often found that if I use Duracell batteries in my portable radio in the bathroom it sounds clearer with a better base response than if I am using Wilko's own brand.
I suppose that being in the bath instead of the shower may have a small part to play in this but even so

Little know fact... Duracell tune their batterys for enhanced bass response. Surely it would depend on which batteries you use. Conversely, Panasonic go for mid and treble.

It's no different to putting a short bit of expensive speaker cable at the end of10m of B&Q bell wire.
The placebo effect is very real.
