So you just turned on the Powerline feature & all was rosy?
We were having problems with the mini disconnecting and requiring a reboot of both every few days - was driving me up the wall. A bit of googling turned up the yet to be released powerline feature in the hidden service menu, so I turned off wifi on both and connected that way. Been rock solid ever since - zero reboots. May as well have stuck with cabled Virgin, at least it worked without regular faffing about!

Please explain - 2tvs on one box ?
Yep, you split the HDMI signal using an HDMI splitter so SKYQ->Splitter->Two TVsThere is a 10m HDMI cable running under the floorboards and through the wall into the back room, and a normal short one running the TV in the living room.
HDMI splitter
Getting remotes to work with SkyQ is a bit harder than the previous sky+ but luckily the bluetooth remote has enough range for our setup.

Powerline doesn't work very well on multi plug extensions, especially surge protected ones. If possible plug the boxes directly into a wall socket.
Or source power line adapters with mains pass through - plug these into the wall then plug extension into power line adapter._dobbo_ said:

But you have to watch the same thing ?There is a 10m HDMI cable running under the floorboards and through the wall into the back room, and a normal short one running the TV in the living room.

Yes, but that's a deliberate choice for us. For another £50 you can add another skyq mini box and watch something different and not mess around with HDMI splitters. We have the mini box upstairs, we've honestly not been bothered by watching the same sky channel downstairs for the 6 years we've had it set up that way so saw no need to go to the expense of an extra mini box at this time.
Has anyone had an issue where their silver box won't turn on from being in standby?
I've had it a few times now in the mornings and fan is going at full pelt also by the sounds of it, even though the box is not surrounded by anything or in a cabinet. The only way to get it working again is to turn it on and off at the wall so that it has to reboot, I've had to do this 4 or 5 times so far and today I eventually called Sky about it. The fix was to turn it from active standby mode onto eco standby mode and see how I get on... I'm not convinced but time will tell!

We've got an engineer coming out to try and get to the bottom of the issues we are having with the Q box we have in the bedroom, constantly needs rebooting, press the home button for the menu and the screen will go black with a mini screen on the left of the screen, no sound and to top it all off the main Q box has always got to be switched back to stand-by after its switched on as the picture is always stuttering.
Never had a problem in all the years we had 3 sky+ boxes

This sounds exactly like the problems we have. Engineer replaced the box and the problems continuedNever had a problem in all the years we had 3 sky+ boxes
I was told it's a meshing issue and the network team needs to solve. I just haven't got around to calling them because I've spent so much time on this already.
Others on this thread have said switching on powerline feature solves all this which would further support the idea that it's a wireless issue. I'm inclined to try that before doing anything else.
Regardless - hope the engineer solves your problems, if anything like mine then he won't or more accurately can't.

It's getting to the stage where we are getting irritated by it now, even considering asking to go back to our Sky+ boxes if it's not resolved satisfactorily.I was told it's a meshing issue and the network team needs to solve. I'll let you know what happens with the engineer visit.

Ok thanks, so powerline requires cabling, not just 'switch it on' !

The in-built powerline has no cables, it sends the network traffic through the power cable via your mains wiring. Couldn't be any neater. yes, extension leads will affect it, but what have you got to lose in trying?May as well have stuck with cabled Virgin, at least it worked without regular faffing about!
