I'm pretty happy with what I've got at the moment to be honest, I can't remember the last time I needed to record/watch three things at the same time, surely that's what catch-up is for?
Not everything is on catch up and not everyone can download programs in a timely fashion either.
None the less it's very rare to need this ability - handy to have an "n+1" solution to the problem but it really is a first world problem most are repeated within a week anyway.

I don't have a massively fast internet connection (5mps) but luckily I've never needed to see anything straight away either, I just set it to download and watch it when it's done. Five years ago I would have jumped on it straight away but i really don't think I'll be missing out, I've never felt the need to carrying on watching in another room either!

Sky Q coming end of March for us. Got an all in package with TV, Unlimited UK land/mobile phonecalls (Mrs works from home), Fibre broadband and 2 x mini-boxes which is coming in at £116/month inc VAT. Got one mini-box free and there is an offer on for extra mini-boxes for £49 instead of £99 right now.

thumbup You'll love it. I've been trialing it for 6 months and will be upgrading to a silver box and a couple of minis as soon as I can.

Bah, I have to wait as I don't have sky broadband. Cost is reasonable for us, only £1.50 more per month.

The main thing is the shared planner access, you can see everything stored on your main box via the mini box and stream it from there. You can start to watch a movie in the living room and finish it in the bedroom. I can download recording to my tablet and watch on the move. Your tablet can stream any channel from the main box and not just a selection like Sky Go can now. The interface is great and bring on demand and regular tv much closer together.

Sky confirmed yesterday that the UHD versions of Sky Sports and Movies will be included in those packs at no extra charge with the Silver bundle.
Amazed - assumed they'd want more for them.

My equipment is being delivered today.

Wonder if I could set it up myself.

Not unless you've got the new hybrid LNB.. And access to Sky's systems to activate it on your account.

Really? Might be worth a look but didn't fancy being part of the early adopters.

Turned out to only be the Q hub.

Does anyone know if existing Sky Dish to Box cabling is compatible with Q?

My new build house has the standard double cabling built in behind the walls to sockets so I'm hoping the Q system can use that?

Yes. Assuming the cable is of good quality then only the LNB will need to be changed.

No - it's a new wideband type. Dual outputs just for Q, although there is a new hybrid version with support for both Q & normal equipment, but it's not clear under what circumstances they'll install it.

I recently ran a second pair of cables from my LNB to a loft box to the distribute the satellite feed to a different room than was originally wired for sky.

Any idea if the loftbox in this scenario would cause a problem?

I'm gutted because I probably spent £2-300 and lots of effort on installing cabling, loft box, HDMI splitter, DVB-T modulator, wall plates to spread an HD picture around my house about 6 weeks ago. frown
