The Sky+ app cannot control Sky Q devices. The Sky Q app doesn't have box control from what I know.

My recording thumbnails are all blank, just the programme name showing underneath. Google seems to say no cure except a complete reset (inc losing all my recordings) and even then it's not a permanent fix.

Internet's working happily, box is attached to the network, I've turned it off & on again, natch. Any ideas please?

Just downloaded the app and it can't find the Q box, so assume not.

Try forcing a software update on the Q box - that's fixed it for me in the past.

I was at a presentation yesterday, didnt appreciate there was a search and a control function,I just assumed you would have complete command.
Search on its own seems a bit pointless

"find breaking bad"
now use the remote to select and start playing
Why not just roll it all out together?

Wait, what?

The iOS Sky+ App cannot control Sky Q, whether the main or multi room boxes? Really?

Seems like another 'downgrade' to me.

What about scheduling of recordings when you're out of the house, etc?

The Q app allows scheduling of remote recordings, panic not smile It's basically Sky Go & Sky+ apps combined into one , with the addition of downloading recordings from your box. The only thing it won't do is remote control the box.

iOS Sky+ App works fine with my Sky Q box

I just recorded something to check - it even said "record once on Sky Q box"

I'm not sure why they are split but the voice search works well and is a lot quicker than typing the name of your program in.

They still work through the Sky+ app.

Quick question. I'm fortunate to work for sky and get box office stuff for free. I've bought the boxing but annoyingly at a friends who has sky. Could I simply take my sky q box down and plug it into his satellite and get the boxing?

Possibly if your friend has a sky q dish,if he has a standard dish then no.
The only other fly in the ointment may be if the box requires any kind of input from the broadband to activate the event? the old ones didnt not sure about the Q

^^^ this. You won't need a broadband connection for it either.

From Sky's recent press release:-
We've had voice search for 4 weeks now, and it's very accurate in interpreting speech. I don't think it's ever got it wrong.
It doesn't support navigation commands at the moment, i.e. changing channels or turning off, but you can search for shows, channels, movies, actors etc and it displays the results in the usual search results screen.

I thought it was just a novelty at first, but I'm using it more often when searching for on demand content now.
If anyone wants info, let me know.
