I'll concede that the OLED has the edge on absolute black. That said, I can't think of many things I've watched where it's been a completely black screen...

For me, the reasons I chose the Sony XD over the B6 (bear in mind this was back in Jan) was due to the more natural colour on the Sony - especially skin tones - and better motion handling (in my opinion). The B6, and I'm sure, the B7 which replaces it are great TVs but we all like what we like. That the XE is so much better than the XD is a major bonus. For me, the Sony is better over a much wider range of things than just 'black blacks'.

Fair enough but, for me, absolute black rears its impressive head every time the TV is on. One example is the scenes in Stranger things where there's a brightly lit character in a huge black room. No edge bleed, no pesky side, back or local dimming issues. Just 'pure'. Just one example that springs to mind.

I don't have any issues with skin tones or motion handling so never really understood when it's mentioned.
I moved the Panny plasma (no slouch in its day) into a spare room when I got the OLED - at worst, OLED just betters it at everything. Then adds 4K HDR and an excellent control / webOS system.
I have friends and family with all sorts of TVs and I still think I made the best choice (for me) after watching theirs.
And this is a 65EF950 - the '7' series have moved things on at half the price!!

The good thing is that we like what we like and there's a wide choice out there for everyone!

Most impressive OLED thing for me is watching letterbox ratio films and the black bars are just off. Watching the film in darkness is very impressive.

I'm the same as you, OLED has better blacks, but I still picked the XD93 over the B6 for those very same reasons (motion, natural colour, brightness). Seemingly though you aren't allowed give that sort of advise on here, therefore I wouldn't waste your breath.

Agreed.

Even though some members seem to take it personally.

Hey, we've all had buyers remorse at some point wink

B&W handle motion better than A3s or ref 4.2s btw smile

You've in love then...? biggrin

I very nearly went for those A3s on ebay - they didn't sell @ £850 on the short auction. He relisted as a BIN and they went for £1,150... I'm gonna hang out for some cherry ones though, rosewood wasn't my first choice.

Think I've had my 55b6 for a year about now.

Long term test results - still stunning.

The blacks, OMG the blacks still cant get over a set that can look like its switched off when actually on...

Also impressed with is ability to play everything I've downloaded, all the apps work well and the smart bit is great too.

For what was an expensive purchase Im still quite happy with it, tho glad there is a litle more competition in the market (even though they all use LGs panels... )

Every day they raise a smile (not easy with a miserable old bd...) - bit of a cliche but paid for speakers and got 1200 new albums into the bargain.

Hold out for the A3s - they're worth it but look like they're rising in value along with big Kefs and B&Ws.

Then save for an OLED (back on topic wink )

Not seeing that price. £4900 is what I’m seeing.
