I have been tasked with finding something for a community hall of around 7m x 20m. The construction is wood and the ceiling is open to the pitch.

The use will be occasional and used for film nights and meetings where someone wants to present.

I have been through the previous comments and this has created more thoughts that do need answering.

Given the shape of the room, is there a maximum sized, easily available screen? I am thinking that the length of the building means that those at the back will not be able to see the screen so well so maybe only half of the available space is usable.

The projector is ideally floor based, is there a tall plinth on which to stand it for the occasions?

Budget, this will be a grant though too high and you get nothing, my gut feeling is under £2,000.

Kit to include:
Projector
sound system
Blu-ray player or similar
Bluetooth or similar to a visiting pc

There is no internet in the building and unlikely to be given the monthly running cost.

Thanks

This may be possible within that budget but the projector will not be amazing.

Projector
sound system
Blu-ray player or similar
Bluetooth or similar to a visiting pc

Projector, I would suggest Optomo, (Maybe Epson Educational as its a community hall)

Sound System - Have you thought about cabling? It would be cheap enough to put a small amplifier in the cieling space and then wall mount the speakers. If the projector were to sit on a shelf then all cabling could be out of the way and done cheaply. An Input plate on the wall could then provide the connections.

Blu-Ray- Easy bit

Bluetooth- What for? Audio to the speakers?

I may be able to help install, I can supply but not sure where you are based so would need to factor that in.

Cabling is achievable somehow and there is no ceiling space though everything has a way of getting sorted.
Bluetooth- scrap that, not needed then
cables to the projector an issue as they would need to go across the floor and be taped down. Unless a long pole form the pitch of the roof.

We are in Cheshire

For projector consider a short throw polrojector you can wall mount above the screen.

Under £2k with speakers VEX. That's going to be tight with install, cables, speakers and an input plate.

Would suspect this needs to be Full HD at least if to be used for film nights.

With that kind of budget, I'd go second hand on the speakers and possibly the amp. I think hifi style speakers opposed to a "lifestyle" system would be better, assuming aesthetic aren't a concern.

Its ok, I am working on a system with him that will work, just waiting on the photos of the hall to spec this up.

Bear in mind those of you that then think I can do this for £2K in your home. Its quite industrial when at these prices.

Interesting, would you propose industrial / PA system for this type of application opposed to a set of Wharfedale Diamond or similar. Same for an amp?

No not a PA system just a small 30w amplifier, the sort we are now installing in classrooms. It will be an 8Ohm system as opposed to 100v line as they want to use it for film nights as well as presentations.
