So... write to him. He probably would genuinely like to hear from his customers.

Someone said, "Amazon didn't kill retail. Poor customer service killed the shops."

Amen to that. I'm heading back to Richer this week to buy something I could get from Amazon because the service was great. What they are doing right is luring me back into the store, whereupon I go "ooh shiny shiny" and start thinking about what else I'd like hehe

Poor show on telesales and in the Newcastle store today, wouldn't price match a competitors price.

Hotukdeals had a link for the LG OLED 65E for £2499 this morning, £3499 shop price with £1000 discount from a code. The shop in question isn't on the LG cash back offer list, so you wouldn't get the LG £800 cash back.

Rang the telesales and visited the Newcastle branch for them both to refuse to price match, only thing they would do was to use the £800 cash back themselves to bring the price closer then knock an extra £50 off, but this would still be more than the Hotukdeal price.

Tried saying the store was probably selling grey imports, it wont have a 6 year warranty ect. They are an official LG stockist, UK tv and comes with LG 12 months warranty and then an extra 5 years through the shop.

Same excuses at Currys.

Poor show.

Im confused, surely if they were an official LG stockist then they would be participating in the 800 quid off? Nowhere do Very say there are an official retailer. Also, Very dont offer a 5 years free warranty, they charge £250 for 4 years, so not sure why you think they would offer 5 years for free?. Richer Sounds were offering £850 off, and a 6 year warranty, yet you are making a fuss about paying £150 for a 5 year warranty on a £2400 TV.

Meh, if that is what your life has come to then I think its you who are being a 'poor show' and not the retailers.

Wind your neck in princess, who said Very? Not me, it wasn't them, and the shop I was on about are an official LG stockist and they do an additional 5 years extended warranty. As for the £800 cash back from LG there is a small number of stockists on their website, Peter Tyson, Crompton and Moore and various other independents are not on there, neither was this shop.

So yes my first posts stands, Richer price £3799, other shop £2499. Richer would use the customers £800 cash back to get the price down to £2999 then knock another £50 to make it £2949. So £450 more than a competitor with the same extended warranty.

As people on here and AV forums stated they got Richer to price match and then claimed the LG cash back on the pre black Friday deals this would drop it to £1699. So over £2000 difference. not £150.

This 6 year warranty they're now doing is quite a clever marketing strategy, we went there yesterday to have a TV price matched against PRC but they wouldn't do it because PRC only do a 5 year warranty.
So not only are they trying to attract people back there to have a 6 year warranty, more importantly it means they hardly ever have to price match TVs as no one else does 6 year warranties!

I see a few replies saying "I bought a TV from there"

The trouble is that Richer Sounds TV warranty is not transferrable, unlike John Lewis. So if you buy a tv from there and later decide you want to upgrade to a bigger or newer one, it is harder to sell on for a good price.

So Richer Sounds, sort it out and insure the TV and not the buyer, or you won't get my and many others custom.

Have you emailed the owner to tell him? He might be genuinely interested.

Been using Richer Sounds on and off for getting on for thirty years, a rare gem in the world of retail, spent many a happy visit in the Original Stockport store, met Julian Richer who was serving in there, amazed they have survived when many have gone to the wall in that realm, so he must be one hell of a businessman, but based on what I have read, one with a strong customer, employee and ethical stance. Just got my latest telly from their website, not quite the same but not fancying lumping it back with it being quite large.

I had an issue with some Wharfedale surround speakers and they sorted it without an issue, they really have a great ethos, maybe tinged with Nostalgia as used to go when was a poor student, usually same day as we wandered into Stockport to get the latest Viz, strange as just bought the telly and my best Christmas present was a Viz annual, some things never really, truly change.

They sell the same models as other stores, so no incentive for me to do so.

I nominate you to do it wink

this issue must affect a tiny minority of customers. how many people buy a tv and expects to sell it on within 5 years? i would expect that the vast majority use it for at least 5 years and if you are wealthy enough to buy super high end kit do you really care?

I imagine that many customers of richer sounds are not your average punter, as they would not seek out a lesser known company that often has smaller stores in less visible areas. They would instead pop down to Currys or their local department store.

I think many of these types of people will be selling their TVs before the 5 years is up, 2019 sees a major new change in hdmi 2.1 and it's features like eArc will be most useful, then you have features like Netflix Atmos that is currently only found in the 2017 LG oleds but will become ubiquitous along with hdr10+ and whatever else.

I'm pretty sure I will be buying another TV around 2020 and so my purchase this week will be temporary, so good to know that the new owner doesn't have to worry about his money going down the drain if it does break a few days into his ownership.

Why buy from Richer Sounds when the price is the same. And if you are right in saying it hardly affects anyone, then minimal cost to the company if they do change the policy wink

Their warranty has been their get out clause for as long as I can remember now. They are usually nearly enough bang on the cheapest price for it to not matter, but I have paid the extra £50 etc to buy from Richer Sounds with warranty then save that £50 and buy from someone else for ever so slightly less.

I used to work there - admittedly a long time ago now - and rest assured they do. Customer service is weaved through the very fabric of that company. Can’t see past them myself.
