Well, not many guarantees cover wear and tear, do they?
Dunno, they don't specify that they don't.Or do they,I don't know, maybe it's in the small print.Unless the engineer who inspects the device can show it's not wear and tear the Consumer Rights Act won't come into effect.
I phoned RS this morning, they are no longer stocking items for immediate customer collection, that's a bummer,I need a tv today
Ended up buying off Curry's and paying extra for delivery tomorrow morning.Let's see if it turns up

Further praise for RS. Bought a Samsung 50” TV over 2 years ago and never signed up to the RS 6 year extended warranty. When I called expecting to pay for a repair the agent retrospectively signed me up to the 6 year warranty and a man came out to the house and replaced the main board on the TV which fixed the issue.
I wouldn’t but electronics anywhere else.
Wow, that's impressive.I wouldn’t but electronics anywhere else.
Brought a lot of my hifi equipment from them, got the 6 year warranty for the latest AV and speaker purchase but never had to take anything back yet. Good to know they take care of customers.
I like they let customers ( with an appointment) to try out their prospective system in a dedicated room. Was told I to bring my own music but not Ed Sheeran.

I can see that that restriction might be a bit limiting, and even apparently customer unfriendly, but equally I think you need to recognise that Julian Richer has a duty of care to his staff. Just bear in mind the EU ruling that electronic good should last 6 years, and so a warranty of sorts applies. RS, John Lewis, Apple etc are all aware but yes, it’s nice when it all happens without a fight.
Do you know anyone who's successfully claimed under the Consumer Rights Act for an out of warranty repair ?Your claim is against the retailer. There's no guarantee the retailer will still be in business tomorrow nevermind 6 years given the state of the economy

The 6 year rule is subject to depreciation though, I had to fight to get £200 towards the repair of a £600 2 year old laptop from Tesco direct (they said it was uneconomical to repair so offered the cash, which more than covered the repair that they had turned down, at their own choice of repairers)Gassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
