sonos wont connect to itunes library (macbook pro)

as per the title, I have just bought a sonos play 1, but for some reason the sonos desktop app on my macbook pro wont/ cant get access to my itunes library.

I've been into the machine and made sure the music folder has shared access, sonos is allowed access to my machine via the firewall etc..... but it keeps coming back saying 'access denied please check username and/or password'. I only have one user account on my mac and i am/have full admin rights on the machine......

Its a 2012 macbook pro (non retina with disk drive) if that has any bearing on this

i've been through all the stuff i can find on the sonos website, but to no avail........ can anyone help??? anyone any ideas?

Go to the iTunes media folder, right click on get info. Check sharing and permissions and you should have read and write, 'everyone' should be read only and 'sonosdms' should be custom. Don't share the folder if you don't need to and make sure it's not locked. If this doesn't work then check firewall in settings, security & privacy. Check sonos is allowed incoming connections. If all the settings look ok then I'd reinstall the app and try again.

I done all this last night, spent 2hours or so trying different things, reading everything i could on their forum......

shared folders/ unshared folders........
moving a couple of music files to the desk top to see if it could even access them......
blocking sonos on the firewall/ unblocking o see if i could change the arror messages......
restart the machine a few different times......
nothing seemed to make any difference.

went back on this afternoon, checked the itunes folder was 'shared', it showed up that it wasnt.... click- change back to shared..... boom sonos can see my itunes library!
