How well do hdmi to smart converters actually work

I have a basic dvd player with hdmi output and a tv with only scart connections.

I see that I can get a converter box but I wonder how well these actually work.

Can anyone advise?

they work but the picture quality will only be as good as the analogue scart interface allows which i believe is 1024x576 (full HD is 1920x1080 as a comparison)

The tv is only 720p I think so I wouldn't be missing out on much?

perfect then... just remind me you 'only' have SD tv in the spare room if ever i ask to stay...
