Is anyone else a bit sick of the added HD costs for Sky and other providers? It feels like we are way past this being a "special feature" that costs a premium.
Have you not got Q? Not sure if it’s changed, but I vaguely remember at one point to get uhd you had to have x2 boxes for an extra amount a month. I wanted x2 boxes anyway, but if I was single and had one tv I couldn’t have uhd?! Wtf.

I must have that wrong, as that is ducking ridiculous

A bit off topic this but over the weekend I couldn't watch the F1 due to bad or no signal. I could watch the footy in Ultra HD so assume the equipment is fine (the dish is nearly new). I have twigged that the treeline on the other side of the road has now all got leaves on it. Would this be the issue? Just wondering what to do before getting an engineer out...
Apart from the fact that you have some channels OK and others not, we used to have this problem and a neighbour has just discovered the same issue, essentially decent signal over the winter months but things got a bit dodgy in summer. But it was across all channels. Worse when wind was strong and from a particular direction as trees would blow into line of signal. Recognised the issue and got an independent out rather than the sky engineers who we find to be too willing to take the shortest route to a solution.

In our case we also wanted to resite the TV outlet box and were fed up of sky just drilling holes through the wall and dragging the cable through, wanted a proper outlet plate combined with phone point and then 3 fly leads, 2 to skybox, 1 to TV with built in freesat tuner..

Guy came along confirmed the line of sight issue, moved dish from one corner of house to the other and cured the signal issue, actually took down old dish and installed new one, and did a proper job on the rest of the wiring.

Just started the cancellation process after going from £54 per month to £103. Best offer on the phone was about £80 per month plus a £20 admin fee. Tempted to go without normal tv altogether unless a decent offer comes up in the next 31 days.

People have been saying this for years now. Hasn’t happened. In fact they’ve been more successful. They know the competition and have worked with them for apps on Sky Q and even allow paying for Netflix via Sky as well and working with BTSoort in the face of Google, Facebook and Amazon to work together on pre ire league rights.

Disney+ app is on Sky Q.
HBO Max app will likely be on Q as well.
Discovery is also on Q.

I agree it’s not a good situation but I wonder how many streaming services can exist and be successful in the UK. Netflix and D+ are the big players and will remain so. Apple TV and others are very small players who seem to be existing on subs given away with Apple devices.

I would like one place for everything

One app for the lot or better still, same set up as sky today but doubtful as far too complicated

Sky are done when the older folk are gone. It’s literally only around for the older people now, as no millennials that I know of subscribe to this garbage.

I have my Apple TV to do this and I only turn to Sky for the football really. From next season I’m going to get day passes on Now TV, again through the Apple TV, so that will be the end of paying directly to Sky for the whole 200-channel crap-o-rama for me.

Lets not forget endless charity adverts:

Look at this baby, it has been kicked in the face, it is going to grow up with a big foot mark on it's face. For just £22 a month we'll stop kicking this baby in the face, send us £22 now or it will be your fault we've kicked this baby in the face.

Or some other such variation.

I didn't get anywhere near a good offer when I cancelled, I went from around 50 to over 120 and only got offered a discount of a couple of quid, I have disney, amazon, netflix so I cancelled everything and even multiroom.

Before I sent the box back I called and said how about I have multiroom for a fiver as I was paying that before, no Mr Tabuer I'm afraid it's £15, but I have the box and you'll lose out on a fiver because I'm not paying £15.. Nope they didn't care.

Oh well their loss, I'm sure they are finished too, I hardly watch it at all these days.

For me it’s the ease of the planner. Series links etc. We turn the box on and know what we have to watch. I suppose I could just keep a list and pay for Netflix etc. The deal we’re on is £29 a month for sport and movies, but if it gets close to £50, I’m out.

I've also had an email telling me they are automatically extending for the next 12 months and how I'm making all these amazing savings, yet when I checked my acct it's actually gone up another few quid.

Very misleading email as if I hadn't bothered to check it makes me think that they actually value my custom.

Rang them and the girl said it's best to wait until less than a month before contract expiry to try to get the best renewal.

Yeah the tennis match back and forth bks really fks me off.

I've been contacted and been offered the same package for about the same as I'm paying now but I think I've got used to the idea of not paying £60 per month now! At the moment I'm tempted to get rid of the sports, movies and multiroom which should save me about £30 off the cost and I think I'll be happy with that. I can't remember the last time I watched a Sky film and we never use the 2nd box that we have so they're easy to get rid off. We do have a Firestick on the second tele so can easily watch the freeview channels, Netflix, Prime etc if needed.

I was up for getting rid of everything once I realised that If I plug the satellite feed into the tele I can get freeview but I can't get the normal channels and apparently I'd have to swap some part in the dish over to do that. It may well be a simple job but I'm not doing that!

I said I want time to have a think and they're calling me back on Friday.

After having to call every month to see if i can get something fixed on our broadband the price increase is the final straw (oh and the internet dropping totally 5 times in 2 days)

I'm on the phone to cancel the broadband as they keep saying "nothings wrong". Out of 10 months and 10 calls ive had 1 advisor who has helped. The rest have been as good as condom in a nuns purse ffs!
Well they have removed the price increase for the broadband till the end of my contract and given me a months line rental free due to my issues. Lets hope the new router that arrives fixes the issues if not then i shall leave
Yet again last week internet issues. Paying for 58mbps fibre - getting 3mbps.

If the mrs watches something recorded no one else can use the internet etc its pathetic.

All fine coming to my house apparently but then it goes to pot. Only thing I have is the sky router. 3 hours on the phone they separate my signals to a high and low frequency. Seems to have helped but sadly still poor service from sky who frankly dont care so will be leaving once contract is up for the internet.
