Incidentally following on from another poster's comments, out on a recent walk passed two Open Reach engineers and someone from the outfit managing the overall fibre installation (Fibre Heroes?) deep in discussion. Overheard "well you're just not permitted to disturb those seals"

Not sure what outcome was but the property in question still has the same copper wire access point which can be seen from the road as opposed to the grey plastic fibre one.

Just canned mine, well emailed on the 20th and they replied and one missed call about verifying identity but I can't be dealing with their phone in, the bill was still showing as due on the 17th this month so stopped the DD.

If they want to retain me they better not play it cool as I'll just buy a freesat box and the Eurosport app that covers all I really watch anyway, and will be using the alternate method for the F1 purely to swerve the gibbering moron that is David croft.

TBF the sky+ box has been an utter turd for the last couple of years, the search function is beyond pathetic and it hosts ghosts of series link recordings that keep popping up no matter how many times you cancel them!

My only hesitation is that we're only here a couple more years so would rather not spend 250 on a soon to be useless freesat box but I cant see sky bettering it.

Just tell them you are cancelling because your Sky + box has stopped working and they'll send you a free Sky Q box.

TBF I could put up with the box but now we've gone other on the F1 the service isn't worth any more than about 15 or 20 squid a month to me and I doubt we're going to see eye to eye on that.

Oddly though, the box is still working... Was half expecting them to have bricked it by now.

I’m out of contract but just noticed I’m paying £40 a month for the basic package with HD )though it was around £28 to be honest). Should I cancel and get a new customer deal or try to negotiate?

Thanks in advance!

Cancelled mine 18 months ago

Not missed it at all TBH

Virgin BB (250mbps £24)
Freeview
Free Netflix/Disney+ from family but rarely watched
Prime
Free stuff itvX/BbcIplayer/Discovery+
All we lost was record function.
Saved the energy of SkyQ & the other boxes.
Added benefit, now it’s 100% reliable.
No more resetting the POS on a depressingly regular basis with Q

Do you actually need it? We didn’t

Davie, not sure if you've been in touch with 'TheAngryDog' but if so, hopefully they've had the common decency to reply to your message, which would be more than they did for my email I sent to them with the Staff deals, despite me putting the 'YHM' reply on this thread...! rolleyes

Errr…. Evening chaps/folk, I was just meaning to go through the whole hassle of cancelling etc and popped in here to take a look?

Any ideas? Any pointers gratefully received etc wink

Btw - I run and pay for two full accounts, it all gets rather expensive but is there an ‘official’ solution to running two households? (Even forgot to cancel Sky in London during 2 yrs of lockdowns and a handful of visits/overnights - bl00dy Muppet!)

Ps - used to have an ‘in’ to the ‘Exec resolutions/retention team’ or similar but no longer frown

Pps - see screenshot…

Second bill/account is £123.50 - yikes!!

Just got the price increase email.

Why are we still paying for HD? Surely that’s industry standard now? That’s going up £12 a year.

BB up £4 a month and everything else up by £1-£2 pm.

Gonna bin it and stick to streaming I think.

Can anyone suggest what is a "good" price for:

Sky Q 2TB
Entertainment
HD
Multiscreen

[no movies or sport]

Best I was offered was £57 p.m.!

They’re offering me (I’m out of contract and not paid them anything for more than 6 months) Sky Signature HD and Sports in HD for £27 per month. That’s for an 18 month contract.

Move out on Friday and my package is down to £15 a month while we are in between houses. Contract is up April so will decide when we get to the new place what to do but they need to come up with something special if I’m going to keep it. They warned me of the impending price increase and they are apparently sending me out a box to return the q boxes but will have made the decision within the 60 day return limit.

Is there any way to change any subscriptions without calling them?
Can I remove Sky Talk Anytime from their website?

Yes, I got this too. Email said price would increase £10/month

But the bill is going up £12

For cheaper BB I normally get a price from sibling company NOW BB, but they won't even supply me with BB this time. Will cancel (or threaten to cancel) in September.

@DaveGLA is there any point asking for a deal whilst in contract?

We did the same thing 10 months ago after being a SKY customer for about 25 years. Moved to a new home and didn't bother renewing it and no one misses it. Complete waste of money. Happy with Prime + Netflix and various catch up free..

Similar here. By the end I only had it for the football. It helps that my new partner has no interest whatsoever in football and that she actually subscribes to Sky herself (for now) so we can watch the one programme on there we both enjoy, The Last of Us.

Apart from that it’s Netfilx, Amazon Prime, Disney + and YouTube and I don’t miss Sky at all. I certainly don’t miss the bills.
