Sky deals anyone?

This is my plan. I’ve had Sky for 18 years, so it will be weird, and I do love the functionality of Sky Q, but I’ve been monitoring usage the past few months and it just doesn’t represent any sort of value for money to me anymore. Going through our Planner, it’s all BBC and Channel 4. Very rarely do we watch anything that isn’t a regular free-to-air channel, with the exception of PL football, and there are ways of getting that without Sky. My bill is currently £80, due to go up to £107, and I’ve had a re-contract offer of £91 a month, which is frankly ridiculous.
I've had Sky for years and pay around £100/month.I've gone cold turkey and it's been a week since I touched it.
Get a good streaming player and Freeview or Freesat with a decent interace and pretty much everything seems to be covered it just takes a bit of getting used to "consuming" via apps rather than browsing as the Sky interface makes it so damned easy.

Tbh I'm having to plan ahead a bit and use the online Freeview guide here https://www.freeview.co.uk/tv-guide or the one in the TV.
It doesn't help that a lot of TVs seem to have dogst interfaces.
It's taken some getting used to and I think some of it may be a generational thing where I'm used to the idea of TV and channels and "what's on now" and channel hopping whilst media seems to be moving towards "watch what you want to watch whenever".

Good shout, I downloaded the app last night and it’s pretty good. One thing I will be doing is buying a good Freeview HDD recorder. With two young children we really need to be able to pause live TV, otherwise we may as well not watch it
Yeah that side of it doesn't bother me too much so I get why that might be a pain.
I've found its a bit fragmented what's on streaming services v freeview v freesat as (for example) I like watching Bloomberg and CNBC which aren't on Freeview but are on Freesat so that's another box.
The way I'm trying to look at it is I'm paying Sky £1200 a year for TV v what will hopefully turn out to be a couple of one off costs and a few annual or monthly subscriptions.

Just cancelled.
Actually a very pleasant experience once I got through to someone - no hard sell at all though I did politely say at the start of the call that it wasn't a "if you do me a deal I'll stay" call.
So let's see if I end up going back grovelling in a month or two
Done the same myself, I've signed up to virgin media, similar package(but also bt sport) for just under 50 quid that sky now want £105 for, and obviously the virgin media Internet is shed loads quicker, so will see how I get on!Actually a very pleasant experience once I got through to someone - no hard sell at all though I did politely say at the start of the call that it wasn't a "if you do me a deal I'll stay" call.

Heard horror story's about virgin, but same with sky and bt, they are all the same I guess.
We shall see...
Sport is the only thing I'm cautious of as it's easy said when the football isn't on.
But so far it's a week in and between Freeview, Prime, and Disney Plus and the free to air apps I've not struggled for content.
Just needed a bit of a change of attitude from "what's on now" to "find something to watch".
Saving £100/month is good motivation.

In the same situation paying £100 a month, Sky Tv, (multiroom & hd) Netflix, internet, no sports or movies, going up to £115. To be honest I had no idea I was paying that much, thought it was about £50. They emailed an “offer” saving £10 a month if I re contract.
I don’t want to pay £100 a month for telly.
Seems BT or virgin would be about 1/2 that cost. Are they half as good? What will I not get by doing one of them? Virgin is available (there was a box on the wall but I removed it when I moved in.)
Just gone on U switch and my current sky package (not sure about multiroom and hd) to new customers is £36 a month, it’s so annoying.

Here's what I did (roughly).
Start by working out what you actually watch.
In my case other than Sky Movies (and the Premier League) actually not much Sky Content and oddly CNBC and Bloomberg were the only other ones I had to think about and work out where else they're available.
For movies I already had Amazon Prime so that's £100/year.
Add Disney which is £80/year and/or Netflix and/or Paramount which work out at around £6/month.
If you have a decent TV you might have a decent Freeview/Freesat tuner and apps for all of those built in but if not buy a box in my case the TV has Freeview and Satellite built in and I bought an Apply TV box.
Basically for the one off hit of an Apple TV I can average down from £101/month to Sky to £15-20 I think albeit by paying annually for the services where you can do so.
Should add I have Internet elsewhere via a small independent ISP so obviously that's a consideration for you that might push you towards BT or Virgin or a "bundle".

That's one of the things I thought, and now haven't added it to the virgin package I've ordered.
Hoping firesticks will be on a deal for this prime day next week, that way we can still use YouTube, Netflix, prime, disney+ etc.
Like the guy above said, it's definitely about changing the way you watch TV these days. If it wasn't for superbikes on eurosport, and a couple of other things on normal TV, I probably wouldn't bother at all!
