Aiui they're required to offer you same as new customers now.

Are you a Sky VIP? All the various installation and setup costs were reduced to zero using VIP vouchers in my post above. Some other discounts too, just had a friendly conversation with the Sky bod explained what did want, that not bothered about, and stuff wanted to get rid of on the back of the bill now being just too much to stomach. No threats to leave needed or used.
Was the conversation over the phone? I’ve not been able to speak to anyone at Sky for months as I’m not a ‘key worker’. I was contemplating getting a job stacking shelves so they’d answer the phone to me.

Yes it was over the phone, not a key worker either, and don't think I pressed the "I'm thinking of leaving option" either.
Just dialled the number on the website, straight through, v little wait.
confused

They must have reopened the phone line, I’ll try them again. Cheers.

Every year I haggle with virgin, I try and play sky off with them but never actually jump ship, just extended my contract.

2 V6 boxes
Maxit tv inc sky sport, movies and kids in hd
Landline
Unlimited data sim
500gb fibre
2 boosters
£89 a month, best I can seem to get them down to unless I actually leave and await the post, that said they keep trying to charge me £152 for it....

Quite happy, the unlimited sim will save me £48 a month in a few weeks once my phone contract expires

Got all channels apart from sport and movies plus the ultrafast 160mb broadband for £63, price exactly same as last time apart from I don’t have Netflix separate anymore so I’ve saved £11.99 a month.

No haggling or threats.

Just called Sky to request a new viewing card, and they offered me Sky Q, Multiroom, UHD, free boxes, free installation and Sky Signature, Cinema and F1 for £66 per month for 18 months.

Straight through to the call centre, no threatening to leave or any contract discussions, they offered it to me without any prompting

Seems Sky are on a fightback against the streaming services?

They’re all available or going to be if the rumours are correct, on Sky Q eventually anyway!

Had my new Sky Q box installed this morning woohoo

5 minutes later it is broken furious

OK, let's call Sky. Get through to Sky, oh, well, "we can't call the engineers anymore". OK, can you re-instate my old box to work until a date can be scheduled to come fix my new box? "No, we cannot do that". Right, OK then.

This is the issue and it seems to be a common one - https://community.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/Sky-Q-box-freez...

So we basically have to wait for a date, which will be in 3 weeks time at least, before we have a working Sky system again. In the meantime as my house has no TV aerial it looks like we won't be watching much TV.

Why didn't I go with Virgin Media TV?

Why can't you use your old box now?

They say "that we cannot roll the process back".

Can you not plug it in and see what happens? You should get BBC and all that at least?

iirc Sky Q uses a different LNB to the older boxes so it won't work

That's what I asked the engineer who came to us, re what to do with old box as we have a 4th cable from an old multiroom setup, wondered if we could plug the old box in. He said just that, ie leaving the box as it's yours but it won't work with the new LNB but a freesat box would work.

The engineer came back and brought a new box. Within an hour of him leaving the 2nd box has broken. Sky can now shove this up their arse.

How did you get in touch with the engineer for them to come back?

Is it an identical fault? Unlikely to be 2 boxes with same issue so might be a compatibility issue with your TV, have you tried temporarily using a different TV. HDMI has some strange quirks sometimes

Luckily one of his jobs got cancelled.

We have a theory on why this second box failed which we are testing currently. It could be getting upset with the WiFi.

Soooo, WiFi I reckon.

TP link deco units seem to upset it. Connect the box to a deco with a cable and it seems fine. Nice one. rolleyes

If you can, try connecting your SkyQ box with an ethernet cable and turning off wifi - that would help prove whether the wifi is an issue - you can't beat a cable.

Last month I went back to Sky when they offered me SkyQ box plus a multiroom box, UHD, all channels (inc Sport) apart from Movies and the UHD Netflix package for £43. I was paying £13 for Netflix so I couldn't say no. 18 month deal.

Seem to recall a whole thread on the sky forum about issues with Deco and similar mesh systems.
