Question to those in the know:

I'm on a very old deal paying:

Sky Variety Pack - £37.95
Sky HD - £14
Sky Sports F1 - £0 (Legacy Channel)
Sky Fibre Unlimited - £24

Plus line rental I'm paying £96 for not much telly. I can swap online to Sky Signature, which appears to be exactly the same as my Sky Variety and I will instantly save £20 per month. BUT will I still be able to keep Sky Sports F1? I don't watch any other sport so that's the only 'extra' channel I want, but I'm concerned if I swap my basic pack it will remove my legacy entitlement to the F1.

Any help or advice appreciated! Many thanks.
You'll lose it unfortunately, as you've mentioned it's a legacy entitlement and switching base package will remove it
You're lucky to still get it for free, per my post some pages back they were charging me £18 per month for it. My only advice is to give them a ring, start off saying it's getting just too expensive and have a sensible discussion after explaining what you want and what you don't.

I lost my F1 after a change, the legacy package couldn’t be carried over.
I never watched it anyway, so all good!

Looking to upgrade to Sky Q but they want £99 installation fee which is a bit of a kicker for an existing customer. Has anyone managed to get this down? I’m Sky VIP Gold if it makes any difference.
My sister in law was going to change & the £99 fee put her off
Next time she logged on, there was no fee!
Don’t know if coincidence, but looks negotiable

Yep, again per previous posts, rang them up, discussed amicably what the issues were, various Sky VIP vouchers were applied which covered fees, installation, discounts on various stuff. Went from £109 to just over 50, including upgrade to fibre and Sky Q. Had all the same channels as before except Kids and F1, latter not a deal breaker.

Thanks guys, rang up this morning and got it reduced to £20 installation and £20 admin fee for the package change. Actually reduced my monthlies with the Netflix inclusion so fairly happy smile

Thanks to both, I did think that would be the case. I’ll give them a call and see what can be done.

After my grumbling, finally got through last night and got from £69 to £45 for Signature and Sport, adding Netflix and a Q box, with £20 install. Pretty happy with that.

I pay a tenner a month for just the F1 channel - they usually offer a discounted deal in the run up to a new season, so might be worth adding it in March if they can't do it cheaper than that now?

I meant to cancel mine (it's on a rolling 30 day contract) last month, but given it'll only be March before things kick off again I'm not sure I can be bothered for the sake of £20!

Need to renew our phone/broadband package, as that was out of kilter with the TV renewal - been paying £27 a month for line rental and 'super fast' broadband - it's due to go up to £32 a month, but they've e-mailed today offering the same £5 off as we've had the last 18 months. Don't know if they ever offer bigger discount than that?

I think a couple of elements of the TV package, which weren't messed about with when forced onto the Signature package to get the F1 and to roll Netflix UHD in, are also due to go up in price so must try and figure out which and when! They don't make it easy to check, without going into your advance bills when you see them start to ramp up.....

Does anybody have any ideas on how we can get sky without signing up for their box and dish? Before someone suggests sky go, unfortunately that is available only as an app on tablets smart phones etc...(at least according to my research).
We would actually just like to be able to view it on a normal TV. We have a Samsung smart TV. Elderly father in law to think about as well, so fancy pants stuff like casting from phone to screen won’t be possible. Do we have any possibilities for that or do we also need to sign up for the hardware?

Keeping my fingers crossed

Thanks

Only Now TV, but doesn't give you all the channels - what's the issue with having a box and dish?

If you have a Laptop or even desktop PC connected to the TV you can get Sky Go through that and output to the TV that way, but of course it does require having a Sky Subscription!

Hi I’m out of contract soon and just wanted to check if this sounds like an ok deal?

Sky Signature
Ultimate on demand
HD pack
Kids Pack
Multi room with 1 Sky Q mini

Super fast Broadband

This comes to £64 per month and is £2 per month less than I was paying. This is the best they can do apparently unless I leave completely as I’ll get a better deal to come back - the CS rep actually said this rolleyes

Should I be trying for something better?

I am considering a move to Virgin for the Broadband speed as since working from home the Sky Broadband hasn’t been great but I know Virgin had their share of problems too with everyone home working.

It's not a bad deal - I'm paying £72 a month for all you've got, plus UHD as a 'free' add on, and the F1 channel which adds £10. That includes £27 a month for the phone and broadband.

I reckon there's probably another £5 a month you could knock off that, if you can be bothered to try.

Thanks for the feedback.

This is the first time I’ve not had a reduction at renewal and just wanted to check if other were on similar deals.

Hi all,

Its coming up to that time when i need to start looking at renewing/taking out a new package on Sky, are there any friends and family deals around at the moment that anyone working for Sky might have available?

Apologies as this isn't a deals question, but can you still get 'traditional' sky HD or do you have to get Sky-Q now?

Only asking as I know that access to our dish means that sky installers won't touch it and the quotes I've had to fit a new LNB are laughable.

I've just given notice to leave. £47 pm was the best deal available for HD minimum channels and sport and I just don't watch it enough. Football is rubbish without crowds, F1 is like watching paint dry and I think Sky will lose a lot of sports coverage to Amazon etc. The rest of the channels are sh*t and I can't remember when I last watched a non sport programme.

I hope Sky address their pricing- way too expensive for what it is.

Cheers, sorted now. Called them up and got pretty much the same deal as last time, which was a f&f deal, for a smidge more but including a 2nd box!
Saves having to cancel and rejoin under my wifes name.

New deal for anyone new to Sky:
