Really thinking about binning it now after 20 odd continuous years of subscription. They are putting my sub up to £94 per month as of April according to the email I received today.

I'm still on Sky+HD not Q (which is fine by me) and I have the Variety, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, HD and F1. I never record programmes, have Netflix and Prime etc through the TV if I want it, and never use any of the catch up or box set stuff. In fact I never even bother to look at those parts of my EPG!

For way less than a quarter of that cost I could use an IPTV service and a fire stick (I have one unused still in the box).

It doesn't seem to make sense to me to stay with Sky for that sort of cost, which is a shame because I've always enjoyed the Sky experience and choice.

Just call them up and tell them - they are not as bad to speak with as legend makes out. Don't get all argy, threaten to leave etc, just say you're paying too much, ask for the best deal. I did that and went from 72 to 42 with a new box and including Netflix.

I see the sky.com website now has a "Remove this pack" button for each item in "My Account", but every single one says "You will need to contact us to remove this package" when clicked so what's the point?

I have everything you do except Cinema, plus Netflix for 45... Sport includes F1 - I don't know the issue about 'legacy'.
Call and ask - It's only a person on the end of the phone. The website is useless for things like this.

If they tempt you into moving to Sky Q you WILL lose the Legacy F1 package you have, but that doesn't mean you can't still make a saving.

Personally I got tired of having to do the “what’s your best deal” dance every 12-18 months.

Especially when they used to seem to focus on offering you a package as a whole (tv, phone and broadband) but now these two teams don’t speak to each other so you have to do the dance with both areas separately, and don’t seem to get any advantage to taking all 3 services on at once, which annoys me.

Having cancelled last week because I was going from £60 to £130 after my deal ran out, yes I know I could have phoned for a new deal but I really can't be arsed chasing and fighting companies for something they should just do i.e. give me their best price I've had a notice of £5 price increase on top so looks like I made the right decision.

I've made sure I can get Disney, Netflix and prime in every room and wont be bombarded by "for just £15 a month we'll stop slapping this child in the face" adverts every two minutes.

I could cancel the TV license too, bonus.

I use Sky Q, and like the interface but I don't use it for apps - too many button presses.

My LG TV has dedicated buttons for Prime and Netflix, and all other apps (iplayer) etc are only an extra press away!

Same here. After 10 or so years I’m binning it, the £5 rise (including £1 on my HD option! Really? Extra for HD in 2021?) has done it for me. Completely echo the whole chasing the best deal palava too.

I’m getting rid too as soon as I am out of contract. The world has moved on and 99% of what we watch is from Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ or the iPlayer, all I which I access from my Apple TV.

It’s only the football I have it for really and when it goes I can get the matches I want from Now TV and still make a handsome saving each month. I thought I may miss the PVR aspect of it, but I can’t remember the last programme I recorded and watched, so I guess not.

We’ve only had Sky TV and phone/fibre for just over 18 months. On Saturday I called my home insurance company and negotiated a much better deal, and then I called Sky. Hey presto, a big saving there too. We love the Sky Q/UHD/Sky Atlantic stuff, plus with Amazon and Netflix integrated it’s just too easy.

It has been a real boon over the last year with all its challenges to our sanity. I won’t be getting rid any time soon.

As annoying as it may be, having to call for a deal, it’s a part of life. And the people have been very pleasant too.

It is a lot of money. Think we're on 84 - now 90ish after recent rises I think - which is 1080 per year. Five years is over 5k just to watch TV. Madness but we'll still pay it... add on BT broadband at 40 ish and that's nigh on 2.5k on top, over 5 years.

Work it out over 30 years and it makes one think!

I'm going to live in a box

Press Microphone button, 'Netflix' or 'Prime Video' or 'Disneyplus', one button.

Or work out how much you’ve spent on fuel, tax, insurance, depreciation etc since you started driving, then work out how much of that was spent in traffic etc. That’s life, and you can’t take a single penny with you.

I find the voice recognition works well on the sky remote and is great for searching for programmes - far easier than entering search terms.

I'll use one button press to access the apps though, still easier, than holding a button and speaking into the remote. wink. Thank you though.

Edit: on another - non smart - TV, with Sky mini box I do use voice control to access the apps smile.

I’m in the process of switching from SSE to Sky for my internet

I’ve not gone for the fttp one, just normal broadband (up to 75mbish)

I came home last week and now have a big loop of fibre optic cable coming out of the ground next to where the phone line goes in, but I’m not sure why?

Got an email from Sky today saying my plan is coming to an end soon and to call them.

Called them and it’s ending in May and they can’t do anything until the end of April.

We currently pay £58 for the following.

TV with Sky Sports, Boxsets
Internet
Phone (that we never use).

I’m happy with that. I’ve been told that it will go up to over £100 once the plan is over which is way to much.

Anyone got any deals that I can use? Happy with the service so would like to stay if we pay the same price (or cheaper).

Also got the price increase mail. As others have suggested, we called to discuss a cheaper deal. Was told that as we are on the old sky HD there is nothing they can do.. "you are better off cancelling" was the end result. The advisor then said that there was some serious sky Q deals coming in around a couple of months so "keep an eye out".

So we have cancelled it.. Don't think we'll miss it as most of our watching is now available on freeview (with HD without the extra £1 per month!)

I only had the basic TV package and was paying £16 a month. Price increase is always a good opportunity to negotiate as you can exit without penalty even if in contact. I asked to cancel and got the price increase removed and free Sky Q upgrade offered.
